Some months ago I fell in love with a Shepard foam armor that I saw on a Con and started to research how I could made one for me. Long story short: I ended up contacting AxiomUltra, to whom I’m super grateful for his wonderful Pepakura and his great tips and after a loooooong wait for all the materials to arrive (it’s impossible to find half of them here) I started to build my first foam armor which btw. isn’t for me! I’ve made some minor changes and adapted others to the tools I have and my noob skills.
Right now I think I have not a single piece finished, but I’m slowly making progress.
Chestplate-neck piece. (My gluing skills are probably the worst on the forum, so all the shiny parts you see on the armor are all result for my clumsiness! I hope they get covered one I start painting it...). I'll glue some straps from the neckpart to the breastplate so it stays on shape.
The N7 logo isn’t glued yet. I may redo it and paint it before gluing it.
Arms and shoulders.
I redid the shoulders with less seams and I ended up liking it better although it looses a bit of the great shape the “cross” piece gives. As I’ve said, I’m a disaster at gluing and it looks a bit shabbier that way so I may achieve a better shape bending a small bar to form it.
I tried to make a couple of different elbow pieces and this may be the ones that I finally end up using (I may cover it with thin foam to hide the seams)
Still not sure if I’ll leave this piece plain like on the game or use the textured face of the foam.
Right now I’m waiting for some tools to arrive and I can’t continue with the legs of the male shep armor, so I’ve started to make my armor!
I took a photo of my test breastplate and the malesheps one and it looks like mine is a kids size! I’m so small!
I’m still debating of what armor I want to do for myself, whether the ME2 basic one or the ME3 with the cinematic breastplate. I’ll sure paint any of them fully black with red stripes, so make it stand out with colors it’s not a choice.
I love the basic ME2 armor better but it’s not as detailed as malesheps (the legs haven’t a single detail!) so I fear it may look a bit dull next to the other armor. On the other side the ME3 armor looks a bit more detailed but I’m not a big fan of the belt and the angled lines of the design, so I just can’t decide!
That’s my first fitting-test. I did the ME2 breastplate thinking that was the armor I would do, but I’m still not sure xD
This armor won’t be the final one, it’s just a test to find out how to shape the breasts (here I must thank Evil FX for it’s wonderful idea!), see if I could dremel the lines with all the... bulkiness and find the size and shape it should have. As you can see I didn’t bother to cut or glue anything clean.
(Please don’t mind all the bathroom paraphernalia... I had no other way to take the photo xD)
And that’s it (well, that was long!) Any advices (someone teach me how to glue please! xD), comments, questions, whatever are welcome!
