Mascot Heads?

Okay, I'm already thinking about the Superman Celebration in Metropolis next year.

Costume-wise, I've already done the Good:

And the Bad:

So now, I'm thinking the ridicluous:

I'm a fan of the George Reeves Superman, but at 5'4", I thought this might be a good compromise :)

This way, I can make an authentic GR costume, then wear the head, gloves and a turtleneck of the same material as the tunic to complete the look.

But I don't know the first thing about making a mascot head.

Anyone care to speculate on a reasonably priced way to recreate this look?

Thanks!

Since I am the mascot for my local ski hill, I can help you out a little bit. It's quite basic, but that's all I really know about it. Start out with a hockey helmet for the base. Add to it layers of foam of whichever density you feel will work best. It should be somewhat rigid however. Shape the foam with the appropriate tools (other people can probably tell you what those will be, I don't know). Add fake fur, plastic eyes, and whatever else you need on top.

It's also a good idea to install fans, and rig up a camel back if you have one. Mascot heads get really hot. I sweat 10x more in my mascot costume than trooping in my clone or Mando.
