Marty McFly's Skateboard - Valterra Splatter Deck Conversion

Not yet. I figured I wouldn't hear anything until after the holiday. Hopefully He will reach out sometime this week.

Yeah. Hope you can get replacement parts.

Mine is currently going through customs. So we'll see if also turns up with the different copers and bushings.

I'm still waiting on my COA. Been over 2 weeks since contact again with Ken. :(

You've had replies from him? Lucky you! I've contacted him several times since October, and not received a single reply.

Sending emails to ken with no response also.

Exactly! I last e-mailed two weeks ago today... and it's a month yesterday since the last mailshot, which seemed to suggest the remaining orders would be shipping "throughout next week" at the time.

I appreciate it's only Ken and Joe pretty much, but it's not good enough to have no communication for months. If it wasn't for Joe being here (and me having to find the forum and that he was), I'd have had no updates... and it wasn't even his job! Fortunately, I also heard from Shane at Madrid after giving up trying to contact Ken and writing directly to them. He replied within a day! The WGB website doesn't actually say Madrid made these (it says officially licensed by Universal, Madrid and Valterra with decals redesigned by Madrid), so you wouldn't really know to contact Madrid... other than if you get the mailshots that mentioned them.

I totally get that one man can't reply to a whole bunch of e-mails. I sympathize. However, I lose my sympathy and actually get quite annoyed when I see different projects coming out on the Facebook page - like collecting photos (I believe via Dropbox) and sending each and every person one of the special newspapers. 184 people, apparently. That all takes time - time that could have been used to actually respond to e-mails and tell customers what the hell is going on with their orders! OK, it might not be Ken doing that - it may be Joe, or someone else... but that's someone else who could have been plopped in front of a computer and given the unenviable task of chasing up queries with orders. There was a post saying "We've got some very exciting things coming up for 2016!" Awesome... but why are you even planning ahead when you haven't fulfilled your orders from three months ago?

As I said before, the online Google form DOES NOT WORK for skateboards, as it asks for your T-Shirt size!

Incidentally, Shane confirmed that they received no orders for skateboards since the cut-off... so why is it still listed for sale on the website? It's very confusing, and some collectors might be upset that there limited-to-one-month skateboard is still seemingly available three months later. Even Shane isn't sure whether orders are still being taken, but says they aren't being passed on if that's the case.
knightlife, do you know anything more about ordering just a blank deck with the artwork and grip tape? I know you said it should be possible... but Shane ignored my query on that. Maybe they consider the order closed? Technically, it would break that limited run, so I quite understand if they don't want to do it.

Sorry, Joe - I know you're doing all you can to help and it's really good of you. I'm just really annoyed that Ken is apparently supposed to be orchestrating these orders and seemingly does nothing to stay in contact. One month since we've even had a mailshot! If it wasn't for you and Madrid confirming my order (although I shouldn't have had to dig around to find you or the manufacturer), I'd be seeking further help by now.

I'm really disappointed by this. Madrid knows how important the details are to everyone and how much grief we've already taken over these boards. I'll contact Madrid and find out what happened. Please email me directly (I've PM'ed you). I'll stick around until all the skateboard issues are fixed and the last board is delivered. Hopefully that will be really soon.

Just received my board today. After months of waiting I was excited to say the least. Then I opened it... While the deck looks great, the trucks, bushings, and coppers completely suck! I was expecting the rounded coppers, but they put a completely different style on than what should be there. It also came with black bushings and 6-hole truck plates. @knightlife, any possibility of exchanging the board for one with correct parts? I do not want to remove the coppers and install new ones or change out the bushings as performing both will certainly scratch up the trucks. Also, did everyone else's come with the 6-hole truck plates??View attachment 571798View attachment 571799

David, I'll find out what's happening with the COA's in general. I'm hesitant to focus on COA's until all the boards have been received. But I'll find out who's sending them out and how it's being handled. All the boards are shipping with COA's now, it was the first group of boards that went out because the COA's were delayed.

Picked up my board at the event, I was told the COA would be posted out to me. Has these been sent out yet?

I just asked Ken, who said that all of the remaining COA's are packaged up and addressed and are shipping out later this week or early next week.

Awesome, yup I received an email blast from Ken about the COA's. So glad I grabbed my board in person.

Retro,

Everyone agrees that the lack of communication is unacceptable. I'm doing my best to fill that void here, making sure that at least everyone here at least knows where their boards are in the process. You said the WGB store doesn't actually say that Madrid made these. I double checked, and it does, "we’ve returned to our friends at Madrid Skateboards to manufacture these officially licensed skateboards exclusively for We’re Going Back." At any rate, I was told that your board shipped out News Year Day. Did you not receive tracking information from Madrid? I will look into that, and see if I can track your board.

Also, I understand you feel strongly that all the skateboard orders should be fulfilled prior to anybody working on any other projects, but stopping volunteers who don't have access to the skateboard orders from working anything else doesn't solve anything here. 20/20 hindsight, there are definitely things I would have insisted be handled differently going in. Designing the decks and the retro Madrid decals was my department. Manufacturing and shipping, wasn't. All I can do now, is help out here until the waves of skateboard hell finally pass and the last board is delivered.

As for just a deck with artwork and grip tape, I asked Shane about that before and he said that it would be possible for the few of you here interested in that. I'll remind him and Ken and find out what the price for that would be.

Retro,

According to FedEx, your board was delivered at 2:27 pm today. Hopefully it has the right bushing and copers. I'm sure I'll hear about it here if it doesn't.

We reached out to Madrid about the bushings and copers. Shane responded saying that any boards that went out with the wrong colored bushing was totally a mistake and said that Madrid will send out correct colored bushings to replace them for anyone who got the wrong ones. As far as the copers, Shane said Madrid is having a very hard time locating enough of the same copers for all the boards and have exhausted the stock from three different suppliers. Madrid is currently looking for more.

I know some of you guys on here know more about skateboards than just about anybody. I'd love to provide Madrid with some options. Any additional coper sourcing help is appreciated. They know that the skateboards have been... difficult for us, and they're trying to resolve this as soon as possible.

I didn't receive any tracking information, unfortunately... I've checked my "promotions" folder (Gmail rather unhelpfully thinks all the e-mails from WGB are mailing lists and sends them to a folder, not inbox. OK, they are... but it doesn't show as a new message on the counter! D'oh!) and they weren't there, either.

My friend told me that it may have just arrived as she was leaving today. Unfortunately, she cracked her tooth and I haven't heard anything more. If you say it's arrived (and she thought it had), then it has! :) I'll get her to open it up and take some photos, to see what we've got.

Many thanks once again for your assistance here, it's greatly appreciated. As I said, it's not really about the length of time (for me, at least.. I'm sure for some, it was important!), more about keeping in the loop. I won't see my board for months yet.. that's going to be harder than waiting for it to arrive! ;)

I'd be interested to hear a price on the plain deck, certainly!

So my board arrived in the U.K! It's very cool indeed! I did unfortunately get the different copers ( the second style ), and the trucks did come with red bushings. I would have prefered the first style copers. @knightlife So, if Madrid do find more of the first style copers, could I get replacement ones? The board did come shrinkwrapped and my COA in an envelope in the box, which is great! The back truck was offline, so I had to unbolt it and line it up properly. Anyone else have this issue? Also, the Madrid sticker on the back coper is just slightly offline. I can try and unpick it gently and try and line it up straight, which I may have a go at tonight, not sure how that will go though and if I can get replacement ones, then that would be better. As we already know the Fly and Madrid logos are printed on the wheels, but the shade they are printed in isn't too bad and from a distance do look nice. The artwork and colours, along with the decals on the board itself are stunning, nice work Joe :)

Here are some pictures for you guys.

Maton your wheels and coppers are certainly different to mine! Wonder why Madrid changed them during production.? Plus I did not get a 30th anniversary sticker !

They probably will my friend just got his today with the same ones, the coppers are different and the wheels look a lighter shade of yellow

Hmmm, so which shade of yellow is more screen-accurate for the wheels? The original saturated bright yellow or the more cream-colored dull yellow that folks are getting now?

Just checked the WGB site and all of the skateboards, including the Madrid/Valterra are showing out of stock. So far as the copers are concerned I just bought a pair of flat bottom copers on ebay. Once they arrive I will post some photos and I would be happy to let them be used to make molds if you guys decide to do a casting.

I'm not sure why the change happened ? @knightlife might be able to answer this? I believe Joe thought the wheel and colour was going to be exactly the same as the first batch?

This was his post back on 29th Nov
Maton, I submitted another request for your shipping information. Madrid ordered a batch of new wheels a while ago (same as their current wheels, just more of them). The wheels had an ETA of one week earlier than they'll actually arrive. So Madrid's hands will soon be tied behind their backs with a stack of finished boards that are just waiting for the wheels before they can. I do not know who's boards will be affected by this, hopefully no one here. Feel free to continue to PM me your order numbers and I'll keep pushing until the last board goes out.

So the question is, did the colour change happen on purpose, to get the colour to match closer what the screen used boards look like now or were the second batch of wheels and the colour of them, all that Madrid could get, because they ran out of the first batch of wheels? Maybe Joe can ask for us. The copers are completely different yes and I dislike the shape of them and the sticker on the back truck being offline too.

I'm hoping the first batch had the correct colour wheels and close enough coppers but I'm guessing the different shade of yellow and different coppers are like you said that Madrid could only lay there hands on those parts due to high demand but I could be totally wrong!!
