Starting on the side sheet work. Thinking each major section will be on hinges. The last thing I want to do is end up restricting access to the insides so most panels will need to open up.

Did the separator panel today. Was a bit tricky to mount it properly as the left and right chains have to stay electrically insulated. Ended up connecting it with 4 bolted up mounts that all connect to the grounded part of the H frame.

The only colour I wasn't able to get was purple. Which is unfortunate since purple rarity shelves normally contain "feature" items so I have to resolve this.

Combining red and blue strips, facing them to each other and placing them sideways against the perspex seems to work. It's not the most convincing purple but I think compare to the blue shelf it'll definitely stand out.

I'd defintley get actual purple (or RGB) strips if I could find them in 5mm width (or less) but seems that these super narrow strips are not very common so I have to work with what I have.

Would something like this work? Ultra Skinny NeoPixel 1515 LED Strip 4mm wide They're RGB and less than 5mm wide.
Mate ive never seen those before. That's awesome! What I might do is try do my "DIY purple" on one shelf, and see whether it looks acceptable. And if not then Ill grab one of these. Thanks very much, thats very helpful.

Edit: Actually just had another quick browse, looks like there is a new product - a 5mm wide strip that's static purple: US $2.53 29% OFF|DC 12V LED strip 5730 Flexible Light 5mm narrow width strip 5M 60led/m waterproof bright than 5050 5630 2835 LED Diode Tape Lamp|diode tape|led diode tapedc 12v led - AliExpress so I ordered it as it's cheap as. So once this comes in (hopefully wont take 2 months again) ill try this and will see but will look at the RGB ones as my backup plan.

Got some more sheet yesterday so decided to put it to a good use. The right hand side is now covered up. Still have all the detailing to do, but at least the main panel is there. Pretty happy with how it came out. Ended up making hinges too feels much stronger than the piano hinge I bought before, so will probably keep using this style of hinges going forward.

A bit of a slow month, spent the first week of my holiday redoing the garage floor as it's 13 years old and has been peeling up in places that's been annoying the hell out of me. Went with black tiles so the weld marks dont show up as much lol.

Have completed the side light along with the handle. Decided to change the dimension of the two pipes so they can be used as a handle. Both me and the kids have been instinctively grabbing the light to open the side door so I figured having thinner 13mm bars will be better. So the proportion and sizing of the light case and the small box are accurate, just the bars are thinner in diameter. I think it's a slight change that makes the practical side of things a bit better.

Currently it looks like it might be a sales display for gamer keyboard. The mechanics looks great in the video.
Haha i never thought of that. The shelf size is pretty much that of a keyboard.

And yeah thanks im pretty happy with how the drive works, still some adjustments to make but at least everything's working as intended.

Got the vents done today. Even in the screenshots its pretty clear they don't go anywhere so I decided not to cut any holes behind it as there is plenty of ventilation in here already. They are pretty close in size/shape, a bit tricky to take pics of though since its all reflective and at different angles so might be a bit hard to see.

I used a paper template to get the shape right, had to work out how to get all edges to line up flat.

Cutting this 1mm stuff out by hand was a pain, i seriously need to find some 0.8 somewhere again.

A bit more sheet work today, made up the panel below the shelves. The next part will be interesting, still deciding what I'm gonna do about the separate sections in the bottom part.

It's definitely looking a bit more complete with each new panel

Spent one day last weekend and today getting the bottom drawers ready.

The shelves are made up using the same 1mm sheet, so they're pretty beefy, about 1.5kgs each, but lucky I found strong enough rails to support them.

My bending machine is a bit limiting, so most of the corners I had to bend with the hammer and dolly, so its definitely got that rough ass "homemade" feel to it.

It took a bit of bashing around and straightening with the hammer and dolly but I'm relatively happy with the result.

Then today I've assembled the cage that holds the outer railings, wasn't as much of a mission to align them as I thought:

The drawers are now in, I'm yet to add the filler panel that will ensure alignment and how deep they go in, plus I need to panelbeat the panel that's above the drawers as it's not perfectly straight.

But at least the drawers open and close relatively smoothly, and they feel pretty strong.
