Done / Completed Mando Beskar Ingot in METAL - TWO RESERVES LEFT

Happy New everyone!

I've been working a bit on the 10 pieces I collected before Xmas, and here they are after having the pattern added on the back. They need to cure/set for a few hours before the next step. It's going to be at least a week (I think), probably more, before I get the next batch from the foundry but I'll keep you all in the loop.

Heh.... next time I'm there, maybe I should ask them about casting some shoulder signets.... : )

Looking good. Do you think you’ve learnt anything so far on the first ten for you to adapt your approach in the next batch?

Looks superb! Really wish I had found your project run earlier. If possible, may I get on standby list for next run? This appears the most true to form out of any of the other projects I've come across. Good work man!

Hmm. Not really, aside from the fact that they are all different, and that I really like that each one seems to have its own "personality" if that makes any sense. I worked out the kinks since I redid the two test castings several times! The one new thing I did was clear my workspace and prep it for doing several, one after the other, and to keep it orderly. (It's usually a bit of a mess!)

Thanks! I should have one or two left once all the others have been sent out.

Please add me to the subsequent Interest List :D;)
Haha! I'll probably ask when I'm there.

Update from the foundry, as they are back at work today. Current estimate is that they can manage 10 castings per week. Since I have to take time off from work to pick them up (it's a drive across town and they close very early) I will wait until at least 20 are done, maybe all the remaining 40 if we are so busy that I can't get away. If at all possible I'll try to get there when they have 20 so that I can start on them. I'm almost done with the first ten (more info soon) and going by those, I should be able to do around 10 per week.

I would like to be on the alternate list also, thanks!
As mentioned, I'll probably have 1-2 extras once they are all done and shipped, but I don't think I'll be doing more.

These are very labor-intensive, with many stages and lots of manual work due to each ingot being slightly different. For example, slight differences in circumference, even 0.5-1mm, has an impact when doing the pattern, so there's a lot of tweaking touching up by hand on each copy. That aspect will at least make them a little more special than if they all came out exactly the same, but the amount of work involved means I will probably not have time to do more after the current number. I'm not closing the door fully, but I want to get through more of the run before deciding.

Foundry update. They have 12-15 castings ready, but they are not cleaned up or polished. I have been told to check back middle of next week, when the next 20 should be ready. That means the next 20 should be ready for sending out early Feb, provided there are no hiccups, and the final batch in late Feb. We'll see at that time if any more can be done. Maybe I'll be faster at finishing them by then, but I will not under any circumstances rush the work so that the quality suffers... and I'd like to get to whatever project comes next and not do ingots forever (haha), so we'll see.

I will try to pack up the first 10 this weekend so I can get them out the door when I go to the post office next time. (Got a pair of the sketchers Mado boots coming in the mail any day now!)

Still waiting on one or two final payments from folks too- nothing that affects delivery of the others at this point, just pointing it out.

A few things today.

Got word from the foundry. They will have a new batch ready tomorrow so if I can, I'll take some time off work to drive there and pick them up. Fingers crossed they are keeping the quality consistent.

If they are, and this next batch proves a little easier to finish than the first ten, I might open up to take on a FEW more.

And speaking of the first ten...

I hope to start getting these out this weekend.

One final thing... one of the folks (I don't want to say who) has contacted me after having been in accident and might want to pass on his/her ingot to someone else. (Here's hoping that member gets well soon!) So it looks like that one will be available.

Yes, exactly. I had to raise it a little from the first batch because each one takes a fairly long time to do, often redoing a couple stages, plus the foundry raised the cost because they have to redo about 1/4-1/3 of all castings because of the intricate details of the stamp getting filled in.

Okay thanks, you got the best looking one out of all the ones on the forums but I can’t swing that now. Thanks dudes

Thanks. Yeah, I know it's not chump change for what is essentially a lump of metal but, aside from the higher castings costs, that ()/&(#&¤# pattern would have me tearing out my beard in frustration if I had one. Looking forward to tearing into the next batch once I pick them up!
