Done / Completed Mando Beskar Ingot in METAL - TWO RESERVES LEFT

OK, since there are about 8 more interested and the interest is leveling off a bit, maybe I can place an order for another 10 or so AFTER the foundry has delivered the currently ordered batch. I'll send those who wanted on the reserve list a PM soon.

These really look great, I'll keep a watch here to see if you do second run. Also, is the price $140?

ConFuSays check your PMs. I've had several folks who said they wanted in not get back to me and this is REALLY the last stretch. Some time in the next few days, I will (hopefully) be getting the first castings from the foundry and once that happens, the cost of these will be going up, probably by $50 or so.

OK, that's it... RUN IS FULL. FULL, FULL FULL.

IMPORTANT:
If you got the payment PM but have not sent in payment or gotten back to me, please do NOT do so now... I can't take any more and will have to refund your payment, which means that you might lose some $ in paypal fees if their new rules are in place.

I should have 1-2 extra once the run is over and they all have arrived, but as of now I am not taking any more deposits. We're almost up to 50(!) ingots and it's going to take me quite a bit of time to get them all out. I'll update as soon as I hear back from the foundry.

And I don't think there's any point in expressing interest for another run at this point because IF it happens, it's a least a couple months away and I don't want to think about that until the current one is done.

Thanks again to everyone!

Small update.

Just got word from the foundry that they will only have 4-6 castings ready this week and they "will do the rest in January". This is rather disappointing, since I was expecting at least 15-20 copies to finish during the holiday break. (I did of course point out to them that I was expecting more, and have asked if they can at least manage a few extra, but unfortunately, we're kind of at their mercy time-wise.) This means that, depending on exactly when in Jan they have them all done, most castings will probably be shipping out throughout Feb/Mar. I don't have any off-days from work in early 2020, so the bulk of them will have to be done evenings/weekends. They will be finished continually as they come in, as soon as possible, because I don't like to have these things dragging on and hanging over me. (Unlike some folks, I'm not comfortable owing things and like to get these kinds of things over ASAP.) Luckily, there's at least a bit of prep work to be done that isn't dependent on having the ingots in-hand. Sorry for not having an awesome news update, but hopefully it will not be too long of an extra wait for some of you. I will of course keep updating here as they come in and as they go out. It looks like I'll be able to pick up the first (small) batch on Thursday, right before the foundry closes for the holidays so I'll be taking time off from work since it's a drive across the city to get them.

Another small update from the foundry. They say orders like these usually take at least 4-6 "working weeks" and that currently, there are at least 10 orders before the ingots. (Most likely, they don't count the upcoming holidays and such, since they close shop completely for a week or two.) They said they would try to get a few more done this week if they can find the time. I guess we have to keep in mind that these are all molded, cast and polished by hand.

Thanks for the communication/updates Joatrash! I am sure I speak for the others on the run that we understand the delays and timing concerns and the fact that, yes, this isn't your full time gig! We all want the be beautiful interpretation of the ingot that you displayed in your early posts so no need to rush through etc- you've been more than accommodating "holding the elevator door open" for stragglers (myself included) so take your time. Eventually all of us will have this beautiful object to enjoy. Happy Holidays!!

Yes, as another straggler, thanks again for letting those at the last minute get in. I'm sure everyone understands you are doing your best under the circumstances and we all want an amazing replica within the constraints of your spare time. Please keep us updated with full knowledge that, this is the way.

Happy Holidays

Definitely keeping an eye on this, it looks fantastic. Did I miss where you mentioned how the marble effect was done? You've done a great job, the best I've seen so far.

Hi could you please update me as fully paid on first post just want to make sure you got the payment in the guy with shipping to Ireland thanks :)

List updated. Been kinda caught up in pre-Christmas shenanigans.

Also, I picked up the first batch from the foundry a couple days ago. Bad news (for me) is that they apparently have to throw away 30% of all castings due to the stamp not filling in, so I'll have to pay an extra fee on the backend to cover for the extra casting time. (I had planned for such things in the budget, so we're still good, but I don't want more surprises now, haha. I don't know yet if it'll take them longer to deliver or not. Will know more around the 2nd-3rd week of Jan when they return to work.)

In the meantime, I've started work on the first batch. There are multiple steps to finishing them, the first of which is a thorough cleaning with acetone, then soap and water and scrubbing. Next is a wash of black ink ("Nuln Oil" from Games Workshop) to do a first-pass fill of the surface pitting and the stamp, like so:

Once it dries, I the back gets the same treatment, then all the excess ink gets wiped off with alcohol, before I can start adding the pattern.
