There's been quite a bit of discussion of this over in the Mandalorian Reference Thread: Mandalorian Reference Thread
As far as this blaster goes, IMO it's not likely to be molded from a real one as if that video is correct, there are only a handful left in existence, and fewer than twenty ever made (the M1894 No. 1 was a prototype). Given major geometry changes such as the frame at the upper grip and butt of the grip it seems to me more likely that it was modeled from scratch.
You might want to check out the forgotten weapons channel on YouTube. Ian has a series on all the different bergmans including the no1, and it’s actually great reference for the original gun.
I had only dipped my toe in the Mandalorian threads but I hadn’t seen anywhere that it was a real gun yet. I looked at a few of the 3D print threads but knowing it’s a real gun I’d rather have a cast of the original (metal, resin) than a 3D print but it doesn’t sound like anyone would/could get one even just to borrow and make a mold. Typical SW prop the prop guys picked the Unicorn version of something that’s super rare and nearly impossible to find.
imagine taking a denix and making a new denix with a completely different grip frame. I don't think you could just re-attach the new frame and keep it structurally sound..
I agree I think they fabricated their own with a new hammer to boot. You're right, this blaster being a rare item makes it that much cooler
I believe it is merely based on the Bergman design, the grip frame is completely different, it has a completely different rear sight and hammer, as well as a few other details and greeblies.
Here is mine I made from a print of a Bergman, I remade the barrel, suppressor, grip frame, individual grips, rear sight, hammer, safety switch and a few other small details. The original print is pictured too for comparison.
This is what I've been saying as well. There are just too many differences, even discounting the idea that they would buy and ruin such a rare pistol, when it would be much easier to just model from scratch. Even looking beyond the big changes like the gripframe, the edges and curves on all the small details are different. (The only times I'm referring to the real pistol in my own build are when there is zero reference from the show to go by.)
