Has anyone noticed that the whistling birds gauntlet looks like the holiday special gauntlet more than boba fett does?

Let me know when you folks are tired of seeing these things. I certainly am!:lol:

Another Bobamaker helmet finished up. Painted with Alumaluster of course. My process has continued to change and evolve slightly as I’ve done these, but I think I can finally say I’ve found the exact process I’ll be using on all future helmets.

We get it, you've perfected the Mando paint job

Jk, always love seeing these paint ups!! Absolutely gorgeous work, the weathering especially. Legacy would be proud!

I’ve been working on leg parts lately. The “orange” strap isn’t nearly as orange in real life (realities of lighting and cameras oh yeah!) so I’ll be darken the leather color some more. Armor STL is from GreatApe on Etsy.

I’m working on the other leg this weekend and I’m a bit stumped on the ankle area. I’ve not seen good enough images that really show how the ankle leather is constructed. Is it pleated (knife or boxed)? Multiple stripes laid on top of each other? How are you guys handling this section?

Absolutely beautiful work! Any chance you wouldn’t mind describing your process here?

Thanks! Very nice work yourself. What brown did you go with for your shin? Looks like a great color.

If you go back a page, I have already described the process in detail. Post #506
Thanks! I was looking for more on weathering side (weathering Metal is always a weakness on my part), but I’ll check out that post!

The base brown is just a Rustoleum brown - no brown name on the can, just their 2X primer. Then the dirt is various shades from Vallejo’s Rust, Stain, and Streaking acrylic model paint kit, specifically Madeira and Martin Naranja.

That's kind of how we felt making them for production, haha. How many of these things are we making?

Yours is looking great. One of the best Mando paint jobs I've seen.

Thanks buddy. I can’t take all the credit, a lot of it goes to the Alumaluster and some great input from our friends in the paint department.. with my own twists and turns of course. :)

Mr Mold Maker- Again AWESOME work and please don't stop posting the pics.

So is that Alumaluster that you're using really $400 a quart?

Very nice work! I do agree maybe a bit too orange, but nothing that can't be fixed.

So are you building this yourself?

Many thanks.

Yep. $400 a quart. When you spray it right, very little goes a long way, I was able to paint a full suit of Beskar armor using under 100ml. Photos of that will be coming sometime soon.

I look very forward to it. I have been fighting painting my armor with rattle can and have sanded it back down multiple times.

Someone shared this great video in one of the Mandalorian groups. Lots of cool stuff, including a turnaround of a few background mandos and the Heavy which is particularly cool.

One thing that really stuck out to me is how different the CGI helmet is. Looks like the back vent is completely flat and is missing the tone change. The Mohawk is raised on the outside edges and indented in the middle? Weird.

Here are a few shots of the Beskar Armor pieces I’m working on. These are from Darren Pattenden’s files and cast by Branfuhr Studios. The client also has a helmet from Branfuhr that will be going with this set.

I have one other set in for finishing and thats it on these. The actual painting process isn’t super difficult, but the space it takes up is insane. It completely locks out my workshop for any other projects until they’re fully finished. Can’t sand, can’t paint other pieces, etc.

o_O These armor parts look stunning! I know it's a relatively simple paint job, but man do these things look beautiful. That weathering is ace, especially on the gauntlets where there's that darker brown. Your photography captures the depth so well
