Man of Steel

How many yards did you use for the cape??

The piece in the pictures is two yards... But I have another piece of the same fabric that is 3.5 yards. Haven't nailed down the shape or dimensions of it yet. Just wanted to post some pics of the color for now.

i am interested to see what you come up with for the suit over the chrome!

I'll try not to disappoint ;)

I already have the fabric for the main suit, but haven't started cutting the pieces yet. I've been focusing on getting the chrome muscle suit as accurate as possible, because that's a major part of doing this costume right.

Judging from the tests I've been doing... The main body suit will be worth the wait.

With the cape I would definitely practice on a smaller piece. When I sewed the pleats on my cape it shortened the ends quite a lot, so be sure to compensate for that when you cut out the shape.

Hey EVANS, definitely going to subscribe to this - always great to see a fellow amateur taking their best shot at it - I may give this a go for Halloween this year.

Not sure if you answered it, but how tall are you? You definitely have the build for this, I was going to attempt this last year but being only 5'10" and 175, I think I need to add 15 more lbs of muscle to make it worth it...or a lot more padding, haha

Also, is Pannaus still selling the shield? I really need to get one.

I'm 6'2"... Roughly 210lbs. Do a google search for the 5x5 Stronglifts program from Mehdi if you'd like to add some size and shape.

Here's the link to PP on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PannausProps/reviews?ref=shop&from_reg=2&joined=1

You can find him on the RPF or on Facebook as well... But I can't say if he's still making them or not.

damn i must say i love the progress so far keep up the good work i hope my MOS turns out half as good as this has been looking.

Messed around with some fabric over the muscle suit.

Before anyone says anything:
1. The Under Armour logo is noticeable right now, but will be covered.
2. I tucked the cape into the collar just to get some pics (this is not how it'll be in the final version).
3. I taped the shield in place. It might have moved a little, but I was just using it to test the colors.

Here are a few pics in different light:

Keep in mind that these pictures are before the puffy paint chain mail and costume details have been applied. The end result is going to look much more detailed, but I wanted to see how the colors looked together... And how the metallic muscle suit looked with the fabric over it.

Stay tuned...

Is looking really good so far. I'm sure the metallic parts will look even more awesome with more light.

Can´t wait to see the progress with the puffy paint.

So are you custom making the entire suit detail and all or are you using one of the MOS prints

I ordered a set of details from Frightful Acts, but I'm going to modify (paint, shape, etc) them as necessary. I don't like any of the prints that have been made because they don't look accurate enough.

ive had the same problem with all the prints i find. How pricey are Frightful Acts from what i can tell the details they have for MOS seem pretty legit.

His prices might have changed, but here's what he quoted me at the time:

I didn't order all of the items... Just the ones I really needed.

I haven't received them yet because he has a backlog of orders. I'd plan two months in advance if you're going to order from FA. I've heard mostly good things from those that already received theirs. The only negative comment I've seen was that the details were too large and had to be modified. I'm still amazed that people expect perfection... Especially from a costume maker :)

In any event... I'll post pics when I receive them and when I'm done modifying.

Their sets usually run about 325.00 Yes they are too big, but I expected to modify them anyways. The color they send out is way off, so make sure to have them not give it color, but instead in order to get movie accurate which is what they say they only specialize in (not the case) you need to get the colors to be silver as well as dark blue. In the light the color comes off Silver and in regular light Dark blue; this is almost a transparent look and I guarantee that is the deal. Then you might need to apply a gloss over the parts that way the color does not come off in time especially since spray paint does not stick to any latex pieces.
