Man Of Steel Cape

So I'm currently in the sewing process of my MOS build, and I'm wondering how to attach the cape?
I hear Velcro doesn't go to well on Lycra.
How about magnets?
how have others managed this?

You could sew the velcro onto the suit, there isn't anything wrong with that.

Or you could attach it with eyelets or something. Lots of options, I'd think.

I think the only reason you heard velcro doesn't go on well to lycra is because they were referring to the peel and stick variety. Just get some sew on stuff and you'll be golden.

I would recommend sewing the cape onto the suit, but depends on the weight of the cape. For a heavy cape, it'll pull the velcro up and expose it unless you reinforce it with snaps, or use a large surface area of velcro. Magnets also need to be reinforced with snaps on all but the lightest of capes. Just easier to sew it on IMO.

I think velcro will damage the suit in the long run. Sew belt clips onto the fabric. on clip on the cape and the other on the shoulder part of the costume. That way it is hidden and has a strong hold and is easily removable.

What you could do is attach some thick comfy strings to the cape one on each side. Cut two small slits where the cape begins on the suit and stick the strings through there. What you do is you put the strings over your shoulders under your arm pits and around your back to tie together. Zip the suit over it and you will never see it. I use that method for my suit. convenient if you ever need to wash your suit. But if you never plan on washing it might as well just sew it into the suit.

I was thinking maybe magnets to hold it in place at the front, then with the belt clips on the shoulders to take the weight

I know this is an old thread, but I just watched the behind-the-scenes for the movie... they used a snap on the top of the shoulder to carry the weigh and hook-an-eyes (bra strap clips) to attach the front... hope it helps!
