Making Samurai armor costume.

A little progress. I got the Takahimo on the Watagami and laced the front and back of the Do together. Next is the Sode then the belted Kusazuri.

Please ignore the crazy hair. It was the end of a long day mostly spent under a hat. And yes, that is my DISCO t-shirt under there. :)

holy sh...!! your gonna need ALOT more laces!! :lol

Heh, I have another pillow case sized bag of laces. I've been using 108" long, 5/8" wide flat laces for the Odoshi. I did use some para-chord for lacing together the front and back Do halves. The only thing I have left to lace is the Shikoro on the helmet and the plates on the haidate. I may use smaller thread for the plates on the haidate.

Check out posts # 50 & 56 for the sode and the kusazuri I have already assembled.

Got some more work done on the armor over the weekend. I need to tweak a few things, like adding a tie chords under the Sode and figuring out a better closure system on the side of the Do for taking it on and off. Overall I am pretty happy with it so far.

I think I'll move on to the helmet next.

A few more. Obviously there is still quite a bit of work to be done on these.

All the haidate plates have been laced. I need to trim the laces, but otherwise they are ready for the fabric part, which I hope to get started on in the next couple of days.
