Making Figure of Marty Mcfly

Just wondering if anyone has one of those fancy Rapid Prototyping thingies that would be able to make a Marty Figure from Back to the Future.

I'm his voice in the game and I'd really like to have one for my desk as a sort of tangible souvenir.

Depending on price and labor - I might want to make some of the other characters like Doc or Young Doc for some of the cast, Guys at Telltale and Maybe one for Bob Gale and Chris Lloyd.

I'm sure the guys at Telltale would also be interested in this kind of thing as well.

Just exploring my options !

Cheers!

If you can provide a 3D-model, nothing easier than that. We currently have a few resident 3D-print people who at least know their stuff, the St.Louis Kid and Zenix. But almost anyone who has a working 3D model and who can hit the upload button at the shapeways or moddler website can order their own figure.

How much would it cost - I'm actually talking to someone about this at the company, but I was just thinking this as a small fun thing. What would a foot tall statue or something cost ?

BTW, You do a great job with the voice! :thumbsup

Thanks !

This is a GREAT idea. I think that at least a Marty and Doc would look FANTASTIC and would go nicely in the style of the Gentle Giant animated 'Star Wars', 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Lord of the Rings' maquettes. Maybe at a similar size too (Marty 8" - 9", Doc - 10" or so)

I would DEFINITELY be interested in getting a set of these...in fact, I was thinking at some point down the road of getting some sculpy out and making a Marty and Doc maquette in just this style! Would be cool to see someone else take a stab at it since I don't know when I'd actually get around to it! :lol

P.S., Great job on the Marty voice in the game Mooniteman. Sounds just like him!

Maybe have them on a figure stand that has a button you can press for the different characters and they could say some lines from the movies/game
Doc " One point twenty-one jiggawatts!!"
Marty " Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear? "

First off just wanted to say you do some amazing work, I'm a huge back to the future fan and had a great time with the first episode.

Secondly, It should definitely be possible if you can get access to the 3D model. That could be tricky though even if you are talking to someone at the company, there's probably a lot of legal issues with getting a copy of the model that would have to go through upper management or depending on what the licensing deal was with Universal there might have to be some sign off from them before the model could be released.

If that doesn't work out the other option would be to rip the model from the game using a tool like DXRipper. The problems with doing that though are that it's a bit of a legal grey area and you'd really be better off with the original source art as they might have something higher res. Plus with the original source it'll be a lot easier to clean up any things that might need to be cleaned like sealing any holes or any other requirements there might be for the 3D printing.

As far as cost it'll probably be a couple hundred dollars for something that size. I remember reading in the props section I think it was Finhead tried getting a print of an Iron Man helmet and it was going to cost somewhere close to a thousand dollars.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what comes out of this keep us posted :)
