I've used the RPF for info on my War Machine cosplay, so I thought this would be a good place to ask for advice, since I have very little direction to go with this project.
My closest friend is a big music guy, especially electronic centered music. Currently he makes his own music as a small start-up artist, and one day hopes to make music as a producer/artist to be enjoyed by thousands of people. He has a real, genuine passion for music that I don't see in most people. He is the one I go to for anything related to electronic music or even music in general, and he has helped me find my two favorite artists. This Christmas I wanted to make something special for him.
One of his all-time favorite artist is Puppet, and one thing specific about Puppet is that he has this roughed-clay-looking mask that he uses in some of his Instagram posts and even in concerts sometimes: https://imgur.com/a/MlplE
When I saw this mask, I wanted to make it for my friend. The problem is, I don't know how to go about doing it. If possible I want it to be tough, so that it doesn't crumble if held or worn. I want to try to duplicate it as close as I can and frame it in a simple wooden box, and I know this would blow his mind if I could do it right. Can you guys help me? I've done a number of crafts before, but this mask baffles me. I'm thinking of starting with a thin cardboard base for the form and then giving it an epoxy coat or a fiberglass cloth coat and finally giving it a car putty layer for that "clay" look, but that's just ideas. Are there better options?
