Magneto first class helmet

So I'm working on magneto's helmet from first class and I can't put my finger on the color of helmet, any ideas?

Not to hijack anyone else's thread (although I am, sorry) I'm in the states and would love to know the colors, company, type, whatever you can do to help. Thanks :)

I should probably mention I'm looking for the color of the helmet that is in the majority of the movie, not the red one at the end

Ok here you go. I still need to do some touch ups and clear coat it and buff

black- Rustoleum brilliant metal finish
silver - krylon metallic brilliant silver

i believe I got both from walmart and needed a can or two of each

Would love to hear how other people tape off this thing. It was a bitch and a half and that's where I ended up getting most of my blemishes when removing the tape when it was still semi wet

Hey Lord,

I totally hear you on the painting. I'm on the third repaint of my project from my thread. Taping off in those tiny, less than 45 degree corners and around those curves is a bitch. I'm currently on my fourth coat of red so I'll begin the taping for the purple detail later today.

One thing my wife has suggested, is a product called "MASKIT".

It has a thick, paint like consistency. You paint it onto the areas you want to cover, and then when you're done, it peels off like rubber cement. Sounds iffy to me but she swears by it. I might do some tests with it.

Zach, my helmet is a little big too. Years ago I did a Boba Fett helmet and the advice I got then was to get the innards of a construction helmet and attach that up inside. That way, it's adjustable and allows the helmet to sit where you want it and as tight as you want it. It worked great.

Oh let us know how that paint on stuff works.

I was was even debating on filling taping off the helmet in straight lines then trying to use an exacto to cut off the areas I wanted to paint. I'm not sure though I think I'd end up cutting into the helmet

now that it's getting warmer out in going to try it again soon

Actually... I think I still have a piece of paper that came with my helmet that had Paints and steps to finish off the helmet. Let me know and I can try to post it here. I believe it had color suggestions for Silver/Black and Red/Purple

Ah crap sorry about that totally forgot. Will do that tonight or tomorrow once I'm back from my business trip.

FYI the helmet looks great man. Is that cardboard trim? Looks like the perfect thickness.

Sorry for the crappy pic and how long it took for me to post this.

Here is the colors that this other guy listed out for me and steps to finishing the helmet

Your pep is looking much cleaner than mine. I'm hoping I can work out any issues during the bondo stage which should begin this weekend. This is my 3rd attempt at this helm. I had one that was nearly complete but was destroyed during my move to Utah. Here's hoping this new one isn't a disaster. Not sure I have the stomach for a 4th attempt.
