Re: Dinki-Di Dog Food , Flat Label , Looking for One

Check with Phoenixvader, he made up a really good version and posted it awhile back. Check in the "free paper props" thread, it might be there.

This is the one I have. I'm pretty sure it's Phoenixvader's, cause I saved it from a paper prop thread here:

wow I am going to have to find a can to fit it on and make up some sort of dog food looking resin :D

Actually, that's my label. I originally posted it on the Madmaxmovies forum in the costumes and props section. Rook3 was good enough to pass it on to you folks here in an old thread (and possibly others have passed it around as well).

Glad you like it. It was done by my neighbor as a favor (he's better with that sort of thing than I am).

It's one of the better replica dinki-di labels around (there are several out there), but it's not perfect. I've since gotten some nice HD screen captures of the shots showing the can in the movie and someone could use them to make a new and improved replica label. (I don't want to ask my neighbor again... at least not for a while, I try to use my favors sparingly).

If someone has the skills to make a usable label from some good screenshots, I'm happy to share them (as long as you share the results).

What's wrong with this one posted? The colors of the red and green are a little off (although this is always tricky given the interplay between different monitors/printers etc.), some of the detail on the dogs face is absent, the lettering is VERY good and very close but not perfect and the ingredient list on the side is wrong. The fact that the ingredients are there at all sets this particular label above most other replicas, but the ingredient list in the movie is much smaller (a few lines on one side of the can, and a couple of lines on the other). The ingredient list for this current label was just lifted by my neighbor from a can of modern dog food.

One more tip - the can used in the movie is larger than a standard american food can. You'll get closer with one of those big "family size" cans - I used refried beans.

P.S. If anyone out there wants a high-res version of the current (imperfect) label, I have a 1.7 meg version I can share. The fine print ingredients are actually clear and legible in that one.

P.P.S. Am I obsessive about Mad Max props? You bet I am.
