Mad Max: Fury Road Costume Thread

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

In case anyone didn't know yet - THE ART OF MAD MAX - comes out on May 19th from Titan Books!

http://www.amazon.com/Art-Mad-Max-F...30345472&sr=8-1&keywords=the+art+of+fury+road

The book is being hyped as the official companion to the film so hopefully it will have tons of pics and be a handy companion for costume details! I for one am SUPER happy this is coming out so soon after the film debuts.

Great Pics ComicsGuy!! I would've loved to have been at that event. Please do post if you see any better pics.

Could anyone post some hi-rez of the leg brace?? There's a good angle of the interior hardware.

Max's Rossi boots seem to have more of a cowboy boot-style toe no? They we custom made of course. Note there's only a harness on the right boot. .

I found out they are being displayed for a press junket that's happening today. I'll post more pictures as I find them. I'm sure WB will have these on display for the public at some point so hopefully we'll get some good close ups soon.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Hi guys,
I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm still following the thread.

I'm getting some shoulder pad kits together to be released soon. I'll be offering them through my mailing list, and possibly through the classifieds here.

I'd be interested to hear what you have found. So far, it's clear that the Fury Road arch padding has no topstitching at the apex, like we saw in MM2 and MM3. But I haven't seen any conclusive proof yet that the underarm Rossi strap is different or has a different buckle, as has been suggested.

To me the padding for Fury Road looks to be a but more curved or rounder in the corners compared to MM2.

Here's an example of the area pointed out compared to the padding in MM2

It's really hard to tell with everything else though because most of the pictures from FR the padding is in the bent position. The padding from MM2 looks to be more square in shape while FR looks curved to me. I'm pretty sure they vary from jacket to jacket though. Here's some screen shots for you guys to look through if you want to do some comparing or point anything else out. Should give you an idea of rivet and stitching placement.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

You might be right about the arch padding being a bit more curved, but it looks like it's mostly the stitching on the MM2 padding that is creating that appearance in your comparison shots. The MM2/MM3 padding had a triangular/arch-shaped stitching pattern at the apex, which we can see as the two rows of stitching on the edge of the padding.

Thanks for the reference pics.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Here we can see 2 rounds of grenade ammo, further forward than all the previous images that showed only one. Behind the 2 it looks like there's an empty loop where the single round has been. Incidentally this is also a nice shot of the shoulder padding.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Watched the clips and the B-roll. I got a good look at the underarm buckle when Nux was on the ground during the fight scene. Definitely a different buckle. Looked like a flat centerbar buckle, but without the roller.

Also, during the fight scene between Max and Furiosa, I took several screen caps of Max's boots. Looks like he's wearing some weird stunt Rossi boots. Reminded me of those boot covers kids wear on Halloween. Flat soles. Didn't see any side tabs. And it does indeed look like they do have zippers on the insides. Wow, George. You let us down. :/

I think they may have used a special pair of stunt boots for that scene. They may have needed a little more traction for Tom in the sand. The other clips we've seen and the costume on display at the studio event look like the normal Rossis boots with heels.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Man, lots of good shots in those clips. I haven't watched the B-roll yet since I heard there are major spoilers in there. I'll have a go at grabbing some screen shots and post them up here for reference later tonight.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

karol sorry for not sharin any pic but i ve been out those days , anyway the pics are these you guys have posted basically.

i am courrently making and selling road warrior and beyond thunderdome pads ( that basically are the same , the only meaning difference i ve seen is a very little rivet more in the front in beyond that was used to be attached to the jacket, the same i see on this fury one too but this is the same size of the others on the pad ) ...i am custom making the fury one for a client and i can see a lot of difference ...the pad " corner " is cutted larger than the previous 2 ,it has no stitches and the shape is different , the back of the pad ( in my opinion ) is a little longer , the design of the stitches is different because the front one is more rounded and more far from the rivets that are bigger than the previous, the belt under the arm is thicker and probably the buckle weights more since ithe belt makes a v shape under the arm ..... i ve seen that the design of the back stitches is more "linear " than the other two ...the only things i can see they are the same are the plate ( thicker here ) and the neck part ...

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Could you post pictures of the FR pad you're working on? I'd love to see it. I could do some comparison shots too to help you with accuracy. The screenshots above show the shape pretty well at different angles. Also this picture I found high res should give you a good idea of the stitching and rivet spacing in the front.
