Hi have been doing some screen captures of the movie from an HD source :) I am working on building the Flamethrower guitar first and then the complete outfit. Comment away if you can ID parts and such. I live, I die, I live again!! You will arrive at the gates of Valhalla, shiny and chrome.

Hey I was also looking at making a full doof warrior costume....I believe that the union suit is custom because the buttons stop at the chest and I have extensively tried to find one but have been unable. The chucks have the logo removed and I think the flamethrower handle is a caulk gun push rod. I saw similar horns at a swap meet and asked the guy who said they looked like a brand called "sparton" car horns. I'm still wondering what's covering the headstocks and all the other little doohickies on it....I make guitars by trade so if you need any help don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for the pics I have a few from different angles I'll have to upload.

Great reference images - haven't seen any that high-res of Doof since I saw the movie, and there's a lot more detail going on with that guitar than I remember.

easier to see how thin the flame thrower horn is in this pic and that the spark plugs aren't the tuners for the bass or guitar but just mounted on top of the headstock

    doof guitar back.jpg
only picture of the back that i could find. It looks like the necks aren't mounted to the bedpan but to a metal plate that comes out and connects to the necks a few inches away from the bedpan.

I was asked by a friend to draw Doof and put him on shirts during the first week of release. He said I was sure to make some money. I did, but it was incredibly hard trying to find images of his face during that first week, especially the guitar. You seem to have found all the best pics I could find. If I find any more, I'll be sure to post them.

The things covering the headstocks are bumper guards...they look like they're from an old bugeye sprite/austin healey

I think that there are two guitars that they used for shooting. If you look at the pictures you have the one where he's sleeping and the one where max is coming up behind him. There is a different cog used to mount the horns and the bed pan shows a lil more on the top along with a few other differences. doof guitar back stunt.jpg here is a picture of the back of this one.

Looks like a strat and j bass were used for the necks, pick ups, and bridges. The white thing below the bed pan I think is a plastic bike seat (with no cover) cut in half.

I've already started work on the guitar after building a quickie in my Doof Warrior thread here. The piece on the right (w/ the Datsun logo) is likely an old tractor seat cut in half. The horns at the bottom are antique car horns. I can't peg the gauges, but I 3D modeled them:

The meters are shallcross or leeds and northrup galvanometers

    From the making-of featurette:
The piping is out of a trumpet and apparently there's pieces of violins in there too

The covers with the spark plugs attached are bumper guards. Having difficulty placing model.

Wow there's allot more to this then I thought lol...I've already pieced all the parts I've found together but now this is a whole other beast (the thing on the top with the 4 knobs is a guitar pedal wrapped in leather)

TMBountyHunter, where can I see this Featurette?

I've only seen the 18-minute Behind-the-scenes clip on Youtube and they never touch on any of what I'm seeing in these pictures.

It's the "Tools of the Wasteland" feature on the Blu-ray. Some places have a terrible practice of shipping orders as soon as they're available and not on the designated street date.

EDIT: Apparently I forgot to upload one of the pics

so I got help from a friend and we found the small gauges on the left top of the contraption he said it is a potentiometer from "Philadelphia Leeds & Northrup Co." I found a couple of them on eBay for pretty cheap. I'm still going to make them out of wood and paint because of my budget.

Just Google it and you guys can find it :)

    Good luck for you guys.

I haven't seen it mentioned, so hopefully it isn't a "duh" statement, but the guitar is definitely built from Stratocaster hardware, with the 5 way switch seemingly intact on the side of the bedpan, and the tremolo/bridge is a 2 point with roller saddles like this

    http://www.customworldguitarparts.c...ab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/f/i/file_4_376.jpg

the bass side has a P-bass pickup and seemingly stock 4 saddle P-bass bridge

from the knobs and shape I think the pedal is from the Digitech Hardwire series.

He's got a pleather thing on his right leg. I actually have a drawing from iOTA that describes it. This is the best shot I've seen of it yet.

Is his shin guard something repurposed or is it custom made by the costume department?

SloppyJoe, no one knows for sure. But I can tell you by looking at it again that it does have characteristics consistent with the top part of a boot, with the toe and sole removed. In other words, take some pleather goth boots and turn the right one into a gaiter. That would be a better bet, I think, than an ankle brace or something like that.

Brillant, Karol! Can anyone figure out what type of gear is at the bottom of the guitar? It seems too thin to be a gear but it looks like one.

The gear is a rear sprocket from a Suzuki dirt bike. Most likely a 50T.
