Hi,
I have just bought this scope but it is need of some attention as it was filled down to fit into something on a tank.
I was thinking maybe repair it with some body filler and sand it down and paint it to match the rest?
here i9s the finished result. I used milliput and black satin paint.

Does anyone here have a better idea or does that sound good?

Hi, if I were you, I would make a mold of the opposite side(or a section of the scope that you want the missing section to look like) in liquid rubber. then get liquid plastic and pour it in the mold and after it hardens shape it to fit the missing part. the exterior will already have the texture of the rest of the scope, just have to glue it on and carefully putty up the seams and paint. should cost you under $20.

I would first make a texture stamp with latex. This will be used to replicate the subtle texture of the scope later.

I would then build up the area with magic sculp and while it was still wet, I would gently pat it with the texture stamp to texture it. Once dry, I'd probably sand the ring area smooth and paint it up.
