Luke Skywalker inspired lightsaber [WIP]

Hi all! I am working on a hardware store lightsaber, based on Luke's from Return of the Jedi, here are some pics

I am having trouble with the emitter, as the washers are too heavy. Any suggestions?

I couldn't get your pics to load (stupid wi-fi), but I'll assume you're building it out of metal, right? Well, for the "nipple" use the same material as the neck, capped with an appropriately sized washer. The flange should be a fender washer, about 2" to 2 1/8" outer diameter. The body of the emitter should be a tube with a 1.5" outside diameter and the step just below the flange should slide right over that. Finally, the narrow end opposite the emitter should be about 1" o.d. You can fill the space between the the body and the pipe with sections of PVC pipe or cap the body with another washer and just have a very short length of the smaller tube on the end (perhaps attached to the neck). Hope that makes sense.
