Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber

Oh wow there's a lot more going on there than just flat black paint too. I see the booster, neck, and emitter as different shades. So the Luke V2 shouldn't be just chipped black either, huh?

The way the MR did theirs to look like at one time the neck was painted gold/brass and then it chipped away. Then a layer of black paint was added, and then that chipped away. So you saw bits of black, gold/brass, and the underlying metal. Not sure how correct it is but just thought I would let you know.

Thanks--I actually had the MR once upon a time, and I wasn't 100% sold on the paint, but I think based on the Emperor's chair scene that there are definitely at least TWO layers of paint, including a bronze on the neck. Let's see if my artistic skills are up to this... :lol

I'm reading through the early pages of this thread, and I saw myself posting about an earlier run I'd forgotten I even owned! I guess I sold it for the MR? I dunno. Maybe I'll finally be content with the latest run--if I can get the paint to my satisfaction!

thanks chaim! so it is the V2 he catches!! last night i was watching and played it over and over.. again this is on a 30" tv... so i had a hard seeing it on such a small screen, thanks for sharing! i wondered if it was the v2 or hero

The paint is probably the aspect of this I'm most nervous about. I have very little experience painting or weathering anything and that's what goes a long way to giving this saber its look.

Indeed halliwax it has the nipple ... so yes that's the V2 ... the resin stunt that R2-D2 emits does not :

and to add to the confusion ... this is the Yuma stunt ... with an uncomplete controlbox and silver sidebar instead of black boxes per hero :

Which leaves me to this ESB photograph ... the V2 (?) as stunt in action in the hands of Bob Anderson? :

but if Bob has the V2 ... what does Luke have in this picture ... the V3? :

and is this the V2 again for the ROTJ shoot since Vader has the shared ESB/ROTJ Stunt?

:wacko ... I'm off to bed now ... once again this is to much to process at 2:38 A.M. :wacko

Yeah...I'm a bit nervous too. But I've got enough of an artistic streak and some prop/model making under my belt that I hope I don't botch it too badly. If I can't hack it, I'll just throw money at the problem (commission someone talented :lol)

ok ill be sure to remember, always check for nipples! ;)

on a serious note, thanks for sharing those pics and explaining. im a visual learner and this really helped. i didnt even know there was a V3? and i didnt asked just yet about the yuma saber, but was curious to what that was. why do we call it a yuma saber?

Somehow I have the feeling ... that I had these pics up before ... in this same thread ... having the same discussions and confusions ha,ha,ha ... I'll check tomorrow some pages back :)

Nah... weathering is the best part... at least you got to do something to make the prop YOURS....

Haha! Well this is exciting, regardless. It'll be a new experience for me. I've never been a lightsaber collector but I've always had an interest.

Dangerous interest... I was only going to collect the O.T. sabers... I estimated there to be around 8 or 9 of them...

Well I have almost a dozen my collection, and I'm still not halfway through the O.T. Collection... so I don't know what's happening...:behave

Does that not make it the cast version? That they added the box to in ROTJ?

Not confused at all....:unsure

The 2 sabers in ANH were 1.5 inch diameter and had a Graflex clamp. ROTJ control boxes were only added to the 1.38 diameter machined sabers that became the 'Hero' version.

The Shared Stunt and the V2 still have Graflex clamps on them, never control boxes.
