Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber

FINALLY the real deal surfaces! Awesome!

The neck under the emitter looks oddly thick, which is weird. And is it missing a bar on the clamp?

Yeah, I think the neck is wrapped in some electrical tape or black gaffer tape or something. In the last photo, it does look really rough for some reason; either there's been some damage, something to keep the emitter head from rotating (if it does actually spin), or the paint's stripped and it was just a quick fix to just add tape.

Also, there are pictures in this thread earlier that show that it's only ever had one bar. At least, since RotJ as far as I know but in these photos, it may have been missing since ANH.

It's gaffer tape. But no idea why.

There are so many details we don't have answers for yet even with the new photos. So many questions. I hope Brandon decides to release those photos sooner than later... it's like seeing your christmas presents under the tree and having to wait until next Christmas.

The one bar was missing is since ANH. You can see it in the photos of Alec Guiness using it.

I had a feeling that MR had the knurling wrong on their version. They had a straight knurling pattern, but the real V2 has a diamond pattern which is incidentally the same part used on the X wing pilot chest boxes and the Tie fighter pilot helmets. It makes sense that they would all have identical knurling.

Looking at these pictures (& looking & looking :lol) & then looking at my V2's (MR & Russrep) which until last night I loved, I'd say that unfortunately for my wallet it looks like it's now time for a new super accurate V2 in my collection

just need someone to do a run then ;)

Is it just me or does this thing look like cast metal?...i mean the emitter lip is all warped and the grips uneven and the pommel definitely looks like a cast piece

Where's Anakin Starkiller when you need him ... or Lonepigeon for that matter ... and since Brandon really is the founder ... let's get him to join us as scarf man suggested :) So what do you guys think ... are we going to see the real V2 back in Episode VII as a cameo?

If you look at the old acution photo that shows the wooden master and a unfinished metal cast the neck grips and the overall master looks just like the v2

Are you looking at the photos that were just posted? I agree that the known cast stunts look like the wooden master, but I am seeing differences from the Hero V2 that Brandon owns. The grips look even to me. Maybe we need better pictures, but that is what I am seeing.

Well the pommel appears to be a cast piece.

There appear to be air bubbles on the bottom of the piece here:

We defiantly need to see some better pictures. I'm really surprised that Brandon said it was machined. But maybe he made a mistake. We know the stunts for the first film were cast. He owns the original wooden buck.

But maybe he means that it was machined after the casting process was done. As in the casting was made and then it was bored out and sanded and holes were screwed into it, so all the secondary process is machining

I'm actually glad my shop was dragging their feet on this. I'd hate after all these years of 0 info to do a definitive run and then find a whole mess of never before seen pics.

Aw, I still love my Russ V2. Even with these photos, I'll still hang onto this thing for some time to come.

Mark Hamill has said for years he has one of the filming sabers given as a gift to him. I've often wondered if it was the V2 since they went in the direction of using the Yuma saber as the 'Hero' and wouldn't need this one anymore. Plus it's never turned up in the archives and now we know why.

So, Brandon says that the prop has machine marks on it, inside and out, and no seam. He theorizes that if it was made from one of the metal castings then they may have gone over the prop with a lathe and machined off the rough surface of the casting.
