Limited Run Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 37)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

Hi folks!
Here's an update on the lever.
It's a terrible picture coming from my supplier, but it's nearing completion (100 units). The levers still need the nickel plating. But in a couple of weeks (I'm off on a holiday first) I'll add them on wannawanga.com and start selling & shipping them!

The lever looks great and I can't wait to order two.

And I will. But, is there any hope for a future run out of stainless or a plated steel instead? For me the appeal of this particular hilt is its durability and pedigree throughout all three films. I hate the idea of a gold color showing through the plating after the inevitable weathering process.

Test batch of circuit cards on the way, should be end of the month. Had some issues with the manufacturer and such. I went ahead and got a small batch made just to test the gold plating and overall look. If it's good to go, I'll make bulk orders.

Here's one more thing to think over in the meantime. I submit to you that the thin traces on the ROTJ V2 card may NOT be silver soldered, but the standard ENIG, non gold plated material...

Were the thin traces silver soldered, they'd be the same white color as the clamp. In this photo, they are a yellow, somewhere between the gold, and the white of the clamp, which is consistent with the non gold plated section here on this previous batch of cards:

Now, if we all decide that is the way this card is, great, probably means I don't have to solder up a bunch of cards, and the most accurate version is cheaper for all.

If people still want the ESB side silver soldered, that would be the most accurate version of that card, but I am somewhat leaning toward thinking the ROTJ V2 is not silvered on those thin traces. They're awfully yellow in the photo.

Yea I don't think they are either. If they were, the color would probably be closer to the clamp/lightsaber body

Hi, I'd like to be on the standby list too! Thanks for your consideration. Steve

have to agree with you that they aren't silver

must be soldered silver if any interest to do a screen accurate map

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

Please add me to the list as well and please do another run soon. Can't believe I missed this.

If you're talking about the card pattern...like a map...that's what we're discussing here :) some of us have a different opinion - based on that photo. it will still be silver colored, regardless.

I don't know yet. I think the quality of the plating is good enough to withstand normal use. In reality (in large volumes of production) these would be made in sheet metal, probably in steel or stainless steel, but these are CNC-machined, to avoid to need for heavy investment in tooling. But CNC machining in (stainless) steel is more expensive because the material is harder. So a run in steel will be more expensive and only for a happy few. And the price already is quite steep due to the machining process.
I'll first see how this batch (of 100 units) goes!

I believe today was the day the shop said they might be done machining!

I'm going to be without internet access for four days next week while camping. I know that during those four days the cards and levers will go on sale and sell out. Because the universe hates me.

LOL!! [emoji23]
I'm away for a few weeks myself, so no worries about the levers!
