Limited Run Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA (UPDATE PG 37)

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

I just want to say thanks for doing this. Looks like a lot of hard work and time invested with help from others to make it all happen.
This site is a fantastic place with some very talented, friendly people and this run is a great example of this.

Looks stunning! Bummed I missed out on this too... do you know if and when a second run might be possible?

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

With all this interest, I'm sure there will be another. ;)

If a spot opens, please add me. If a second run will be made, please count me in!

lol I can guarantee you'll all be heard if another run happens.

Super pumped, Dan can I ask what the rotating emitter will look like? I'm curious as to whether it's on ball bearings, just loose but being held on by a lip or something, etc.

I'm super curious about the rotating emitter! Can't wait!

Hey, the thing IS meant to hold a spinning motor. Throw in an offset weight for vibration...

Are you "Jedicurious"? :devil

i honestly can't wait, i brought some scrap aluminum channel home from work today. I am installing pocket doors right now in this house and cutting the door track to length, I am left with a bunch of pieces. So this weekend I'm going to spray paint them and try removing paint with wet sanding. I don't want to remove the paint with sand paper only to see the sanding grain marks in the aluminum... I need to figure out a good way toe remove the paint

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

I can't wait either.
Someone wrote on the forum about this paint weathering that you have to wait until the paint is almost dried and then put some pieces of tape on it and take some paint of it away with the tape.

What is the best paint for this saber? Any suggestions?

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

For my Russrep V2 I didn't do anything big or clever, I just sprayed the various parts in a satin black

I waited for it to dry & then just scratched off the weathering with a wooden cocktail stick

Except the grenade part where I took the paint off the rings with the edge of a knife

I was always happy how it turned out so I'll probably just use the same method on this one :)

My plan is to strip the paint off my Russrep & repaint in ANH Obi style once I have my new one

That looks quite nice.
Will test this method myself. Think it could prove valuable to copy the real weathering.

Re: Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber- based on the new info from SWCA

I found that sitting there with a cocktail stick for hours at least gives you some control over your weathering, I did my best to try & get close to the weathering from the picture we had at the time & my MR V2

I also found that the wooden cocktail stick didn't mark the metal, although I'm sure the real saber got pretty marked/scratched/dinged up ;)

from what I can tell it looks like the V2 got more weathered as filming went on anyway so I'm not sure there is really any one correct weathering pattern, I think I'll just go for what I like the look of with a nod to the original ROTJ weathering :lol

looks like I slept too long on this, if there is another run, I might have to jump on it.

Too slow, I guess you snooze you loose! Great work any way!
