Me too bro. Now i know its definately my saber thats here. Just got to wait until Tuesday for delivery :(

Just picked mine up from the Post Office - for other UK peeps, I was charged £16, though most of that is the Royal Mail's rip-off "processing fees".

Anyway - looks great and can't wait to get it painted!

Thanks, Nicksdad, for doing this!

Does anyone have any good reference pics of the real prop? I'm looking for something that shows the sides of the control box for placement of the arrows and the side button. Also, I'm looking for good paint reference pics of the whole thing.

This is fantastic. I just finished mine up this weekend. I'll post some pics soon. Thank you so much Nicksdad.

Mine arrived safely in the UK. I'm very pleased, it looks very accurate to my references and is beautifully machined.

While I love the bare copper, I've airbrushed Alclad polished brass over the copper and the light coating gives a screen accurate colour with the depth and slight patina of real metal.

Many thanks to Nicksdad for a great piece at a fair price and for keeping us advised of progress.

Quick painting question as I've not painted metal before so a complete newbie. Do we need to prime first and will tamiya surface primer be ok if we need to? Thanks for all your help.

If you want the paint to stick then I would suggest the primer.

I skipped the primer on my V2 and some of the paint peeled right off.

I've found after 24 hours the paint is pretty hard to scratch off...

Within 12 you can do it with a fingernail/end of chopstick

Mine has just arrived in the UK safe and sound. Looks fantastic although there is some greenish staining on the copper neck. Does anyone else have that or any advice?

Copper will turn green and tarnish over and over. If you want your it to stay a certain way, you will need to shoot a clear coat over it otherwise you will have to polish it over and over.

I may have to look into that... I get enough grief from friends over my "Robot penis" collection... if they find out I regularly polish the penises as well?!

Lol.
I know that all the old fashioned copper and brass fire extinguishers have clear coats on them. Same with the old cash registers. It's just the nature of the beast and they coat the metals that tarnish the most. I clear coated mine so it stays thus way.
Don't forget, we can always clean these off to bare metal anytime we want to, so there is zero risk of ruining any part of these as long as we stick to the metal.
