Limited Run Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.( Run closed )

Yeah, I don't know how to finish these yet as well. Hoping there is some sort of tutorial or something.

I've grabbed ssdesigner's spot on the run and excited to join! Will this need painting and, if so, has anyone got any tips? I'm fairly new at this game. Thanks.

This will probably be one of the easiest hilts to finish especially because the copper neck is already done. All you need is black paint. I usually use a black epoxy paint for durability. Just mask the lower section off and the section from the copper upwards as well.
Then paint the ribbed section and part of the neck black. For the silver rings you can either mask them before paint, wait for he paint to dry and sand them out, or use thinner to remove that paint.
Many tutorials exist. Any Luke ROTJ tutorial should work no matter hero or v2. [emoji106] GL

Yeah, obviously this is taking longer than the machinist originally thought.
I haven't posted anything lately simply because he is busy cutting very time consuming boxes that are a bit more complex than what I was originally going to do but I think you guys will be very happy with.

Aaaannnd...another week has passed. The pace of this run seems to have ground to a crawl. Is the machinist really still working on these control boxes or has he put this job aside for a while in favor of easier work? I've seen that happen before, and only when their frustration fades, they return. But sometimes that's not for weeks...

Nice tips, thanks. Question for everyone about the finish.
Is there any weathering on the hero or is it just a nice clean finish? I'm not really into shiny props, so I would like to finish it as close to accurate as possible. I know it's mine and I can finish it any way I choose. But again just curious to see how others plan on finishing these. I was thinking about dulling down the finish and then going for the chipped paint look on the black parts of the handle.
Thoughts?

I'll be doing mine like the movie prop. Or MR version with a light polish. This one is meant to be somewhat shinny. IMO if you want a chipped paint/weathered one then Lukes ROTJ V2.

No, he is still working on the boxes. As I said, they are very time consuming.
I think one of the reasons it seems longer is the volume of the run grew after the initial estimate of run time.
At any rate, I expect or rather hope to begin shipping in a couple of weeks.
While he is cutting the boxes he assembled the bodies for final clocking, check out the pic.

These look amazing! If anyone else is interested in dropping their spot, PM me and I will jump at the opportunity.

Personally, if it were my run i would refund your money and take you off the list because of your attitude. If you think this run is taking long then stay away from other runs which can take 1-2 years - longer if you want an EFX Scout helmet. Gary is giving a GREAT iconic replica prop for an amazing price and he should be commended, not spoken to like that.

Seriously, you are in the wrong game if you are not prepared to wait.

Thanks for the update Gary. Cant wait to get mine.

Umm...please re-read my post and yours, and compare the attitude and negativity levels.

I'm not at all bothered to wait for quality work. If you'll read my post again, you'll see I was attempting to sympathize with the possible fact that the machinist had temporarily stepped aside from this project because of the difficulty with the control boxes. I've had that happen to me when they can't quite figure out the best way to attack a problem they encounter. And I was expressing a wee bit of disappointment that the boxes are dragging out the run a bit, and wondering if they would be the source of additional delays. Does that mean I'm angry, bitter, unreasonable, etc.? Were any of those emotions reflected in my comment? Nope.

I am sincerely glad it is not your run, and that Gary was capable of noting my concern and responding like a normal person without any overreaction and exaggerated indignation at the audacity of my making a comment expressing mild disappointment that the boxes are still causing a bit of a problem for the machinist.

It really does look great so far. Would love to get in on this run, but obviously a little late in the game! As above, if any one else is crazy enough to drop out let me know!
