Limited Run Luke ROTJ Hero Lightsaber Kit.( Run closed )

I used a clear lacquer spray on some old Slingerland brass timbale drums after polishing and they look great years later. Same deal here I'm sure.

Picked up mine from the customs yesterday. It is very well made, just a few dings and toolmarks, easy to sand.

Disassembled it today, some sanding, drilled and tapped it to M8 (as i have no imperial tap and dies, so i couldn´t make the wanted changes and keeping the 1/4" threading). Good choice on the used alu, very easy to machine - the threading of the copper was as bitchy as usual. :lol

Next step is to go over the pommel and the neck with a few small passes on the lathe, until i can screw it tight and the direction of tri-ring and hole in emitter matches the positions to the control box as seen on original pics.

Got mine Tuesday, wow! Gary, you are a diamond mate.

Thanks

Heres mine. Not happy with the copper tape for the rails so I think im going to repaint those. This is been such a pleasure for me as I always regretted selling my ROTJ Elite in 05 because of personal / financial issues. Its always been my number 1 lightsaber, and I cannot stop looking at it. This is one saber that is getting its own display case. Anyone got any size where could get crystals for the emitter? Control box board only took a little while too, and I now have a nice burn make from a soldering iron!!!

Thanks Gary!!!

I may have to look into that... I get enough grief from friends over my "Robot penis" collection... if they find out I regularly polish the penises as well?!

Follow up
Chaim gave me another tip on preserving metal finishes, I just bought a romans obiwan from the junk yard that was weathered with real rust and Chaim suggested a museum wax instead. This may be better for your pennies because they are small and you can just rub in the wax rather than spray them.

Wow people! These builds are fantastic, thanks for sharing. Nicksdads saber is a wonderful project and I'm so happy I bought one. I may make some minor adjustments to mine as well. I have the anikan starkillers v2 on order so I know I will need to add the screws as well. I will wait until it's in hand and then buy the proper screws for both sabers and do them at the same time. I know I have been giving away tape to those that request it but I may try to paint the copper rails. Nothing to loose here because I still have a lot of tape and if I don't like it I can put the tape back on. I think my control box looks decent however I believe it needs some weathering or dark finish inside around the board.

And to agree all the way with lee, this needs it's own display. Indeed

Heh... Kevin... I think you need to re-read what El wrote ;)

Ah Kevin... so young... so innocent... you have an extra 'n' in there... try re-reading it again...

Lol. No, that's what you call a brain fart. My eyes see penis but my mind sees pennies.

Pennies sound better, don't think I would admit I have a penis collection. Oops

I will stop there before i get ino trouble.

Even though I'm 44, I do have the mind of a child.

That looks fantastic! This is exactly what I planned to look into. Any chance you'd do a small run for those of us that prefer the more-accurate brass neck? I know you mentioned not having a 1/4" tap, but couldn't the brass neck just be made with a simple unthreaded hole, and a longer 1/4" rod be used to pass through this hole and screw into the aluminum parts above and below it?

Thanks for the nice comment. :)

Usually i don´t do any runs, time is always a rare thing. But let me have a look if i have some more brass in the needed dia in my shop - if yes i will try to find the time to help you out.

Will check how close my drills are to the kits grubscrews outer dia, a hollow core should not be to big to avoid out of center mounting.

I'd love one too - if they become available!

That would be 10 buckets of awesomeness if you could, and thanks very much for looking into it! And if the inside must be slightly larger than the screw diameters that would be perfectly fine. I'm sure I could insert material at both ends to shim it back down a bit if need be.

Checked the little storage of brass I have - and I found 1 piece with a length of ca. 2, 5" in the needed dia.

Will see if I find the time to turn it today after work.
