Luke ROTJ Costume Recommendations Please.

Greetings all.

I'm thinking of finally getting around to doing the iconic Luke from ROTJ costume. The only component I don't need is the saber. Every other piece... I need.

Looking for recommendations on vendors you either trust, have worked with in the past, or are familiar with the quality of work.

I've done the google stuff, I've searched etsy. I have a list of sellers and providers, but I want to hear from you all, and hear your thoughts. On any of the components. I did not find a "one stop shop" for a full suit, and nobody seems to offer a good cloak.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated :D

Sadly you missed it by a couple of days but I just sold the very last of my cloak fabric. Albiet on a Facebook Luke Costuming group, but still. Unfortunately I don't have a source for more, but if something comes up I'll keep you updated. Feel free to PM me your contact information if you like. Best of luck to you!

This costume is my absolute favorite in the entire series so I always love seeing what people come up with.

Edit: I do have a pair of Magnoli Clothiers boots in U.S. size 11.5 which could easily double for Luke's ROTJ Boots. I don't know why that didn't occur to me before.

I wish I could take credit but Magnoli did a fine job on them. To my eye they look identical to the Todd's Costumes offering, just in a more gloss finish.

I think the best option out there is to do the research on what stitch goes where for the costume, and then hire out a tailor or seamstress to make something fitted to you. That way you can make adjustments as you work out where it could be more comfortable and how the fabric stretches and pulls for your body type. I think it's best for something so form fitting as the RotJ ensemble.

All other options I've looked into, including Magnoli (who has the full outfit on offer), it's always down to the fit that can ruin the look of the thing. The original was bespoke to Hamill's physique at the time and I think that plays a lot into the ultimate look of the costume more than anything else.

I agree. Having it tailored specifically for you is everything with such a form fitting costume.

A few months back I did a deep dive on the ROTJ Luke belt and pouch with Uncharted Leather, working out all the patterns and details with the hopes of producing the most accurate replica I possibly could. I think we sorted out pretty much everything and I got most of the way through producing a bit of a prototype, requiring just a couple things to finish it all, such as finalizing the buckle and the lightsaber hook and popping the rivets.

The most fun part was nailing down the pouch, something that I hadn’t seen done before.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you’d be interested in one down the line!
