So, speaking of the fact in another thread, lets talk with our hands

That robotic hand floating around exhibits doesn't seem to match anything on screen, why was it made?

AND has anyone IDed parts or tried to make the robotic arm with a door that Luke was testing out in the sick bay at the end of ESB? Each wire moved with his hand, it looked pretty neat, even when I was a kid

That hand was from the sail barge scene when he was shot. It either wasn't used or was cut from the film.

After adding image tags to the above post, we can easily see that the hand in question is not scorched, or damaged in the same location as the scenes from ROTJ.

I would surmise that the hand was indeed made for ESB, there are some similarities in greeblies between the two.

Possibly a more extensive prosthetic hand surgery scene was planned, but never shot due to any number of reasons.

Both are neat props. To my knowledge neither have been replicated, or at least not shown here.

Right. I was bummed when they had that exhibit here in 06 that it wasn't the correct hand/arm. It's pretty obvious it's not from that scene so I don't know why they put it in there.
