Re: Luke Dagobah saber tape
I couldn't wait so I decided to do 'my' version. I had intended on recreating the ranch saber to a T, but halfway into it, I started to not like the idea of replicating what amounts to a repair job.
Real Graflex with tab removed and button on the bottom
Real circuit board
Gino grips
Replica Linhof D-ring (Yeah, I know. I consider it a placeholder.)
Half-inch smooth chrome tape.
The grips are just screwed on with phillips screws. This way, if any new discoveries are made, I can easily replace them. That's the beauty of Gino's grips. They are rigid and don't bend or buckle.
I went with the smaller screws at the tops of the grips. I speculate they were added sometime during production perhaps and not added later by someone working in the archives. At some point even later on, the button was moved to the top of the saber leaving a hole on the bottom.
I couldn't bring myself to break the clamp lever and put a screw through it. It is also thought that when it was repaired, the circuit board was inserted upside down.
I still have a clamp with the textured tape on it just in case.
