Luke Bespin Boots

I'm looking for screen caps of Lukes' Bespin Boots. I'm going to attempt to make a pair for my costume. I have a couple of ideas. The first idea is to take pair of beat up mucklucks and make some mods. How would I go about matching the color to my costume. Dye? Any input that any one can give me would greatly appreciated.

I've got some pics of them here, but I have to say that none of them are really all that awesome, so I'd be grateful for anything else that happens to turn up in this thread. ;)

I made these boots last year as a kind of "working prototype" for Bespin boots. They're built up with discount vinyl from Hancock's glued over a black Converse All-Stars. Obviously, I would do the strapping different for Luke's, but the general shape of the All-Star looks like a decent enough match for me . . . but, then I'm not known for my attention to detail in these matters, so you might want something a little higher-end.

Keep us updated on where you go with it, if I ever get around to this costume I'll need all the help I can get.

Much like an ESB Boba the Bespin/ESB Luke has virtually no good reference.....this is the best I can do for ya'. Sometimes I think they're suede because of the wear patterns, other times I think they're a canvas type material....although I'm leaning more towards suede.....heavily worn suede. And considering in ESB they got wet 'umpteen' times and put through hell it's a hard task to get the right look. Perhaps it's a blend of the upper part being a material much like the rest of the suit and the lower shoe part being suede. I wish I knew once and for all to be honest. They look different than the Hoth boots although similar in construction.

Thanks guys, These pics will help. I will post pics when I have them finished.

I made a pair of boots for my boyfriend's Luke Bespin costume a few months ago.

I adapted a pair of suede look slippers, bought some suede to match it, and turned them into these:

The suede colours didn't match exactly, so my boyfriend got some dirt to try to blend the two together, and it worked pretty well.

The pattern shapes I used look like this:

The straps are just strips of suede, with rounded edges and velcro to keep them attached. Although if I had more time, I would have tried to attach them to the back, so that they don't slide down. Otherwise you have to put them on really tight, so they don't wriggle down. We were hard pressed for time and didn't get a chance to do that.

They were fiddly, but otherwise relatively easy to make. The most difficult part we found was glueing the suede around the slipper.

Good luck making your boots. I hope it goes well :)

I found this pic last year when I was working on my costume.

The boots worn by the Rebels on Hoth are the same as Luke's right? Lukes are just filthy.

Thanks rmschneider104, they were quite a lot of fun to make, and turned out better than I expected. It was fun to work with leather for a change for this costume (I made the holster too). I want to make a Leia Hoth costume for myself sometime, so I get to make some boots for myself :)

They have the same construction, just not "the same". The white strips going up the sides for one and I'm not sure without closer pics of the Bespin boots, but there look to be no rolled rim around the toe area whereas on the Hoth boots it seems apparent ........very moccasin like.
