Did the saber REALLY have the mylar tape on the clamp? On ANY version?

I can see tape in both the bottom pics. I'm sure there are more. I'll look into my archives.

I think the ANH version is still up in the air until anyone finds a clearer picture. It's so hard to tell on the stunt sabers at the bottom of the link, and it's still a big "if" that they are leftover from ANH, although it seems very likely.

The Parts of Star Wars link is ESB which of course has tape, no doubt.

The ANH version however did NOT have tape IMO.
I've never seen an ANH photo that looked like it had tape.
It's pretty clear in most pics that it didn't.

The chrome tape was an ESB prop dept. idea.
Fans just started doing it to the ANH too because of lack of reference for that version or just to cover up the name.

I suspected it never had it. I KNEW the ESB had tape on it, thats pretty clear. But the ANH one always eluded me.
