Lucas to retire?

Enjoy your retirement, George.

Eternal thanks.

Lucas' retirement sounds like the joke of Optimus Prime being Robot *****, if you know what I mean…

Optimus Prime died since the '86 movie in every incarnation of Transformers and has been resurrected as well, so that among fans he's being considered as "Robot *****", who died for the freedom of all sentient beings.

I get why this criticism of Lucas so resonates with fans who are angry with him over the various changes.

But the situation is slightly different. The colorization thing was going on without the consent of the original directors (as far as I know). The colorization of film changes the entire composition of the film. Lucas' changes, for better or worse, are better thought of as "revisions" than a complete re-do.

I wouldn't call the situation different. His reasoning was that films are pieces of our cultural heritage and should not be altered. Using that logic, it should not matter who is the one changing them.

You know - I don't really care, but how long can you possibly milk the same franchise. Sure it was great then and is still special to many of us now, but seriously time to move on and start listening to constructive criticism.

If Red Tails bombs like everyone predicted, maybe he'll start to listen more closely to what people suggest to him (especially since he invested 100 million of his own money into the project).
