Lovecraft - Cthulhu themed display

Here's a selection of the H.P. Lovecraft - Cthulhu artifacts that I've collected. The most recent is the Joe Broers Piltdown Cthulhu idol or fetish (http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/2015/05/cthulhu-fhtagn-broers-edition.html) . It has a very realistic basaltic texture. There are a couple of "extras" along with this sculpt - an elder sign pendant and some tokens.

Next to that is Joe's original Cthulhu sculpt, based on H.P.'s sketch (http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/2013/05/cthulhu-fhtagn-broers-edition.html). Amazing detail! Joe provided several paper documents to accompany the statue.

Behind is the Matriach of Y'ha-nthlei, the Deep Ones bust (http://www.therpf.com/f9/deep-one-bust-innsmouth-artifact-233510/#post3555929) by the Schlitzie. A nice patina-ed brass finish to the sculpt, mounted on a turned wood base.

Scattered around are pieces from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society's props cd, including the Dagbok and a couple of other items from their "Call of Cthulhu" production. I also threw in some typical geologist paraphernalia to fill out the display. Hope you like it.

I don't know if Joe is still producing them or not. He said that he didn't have a printer that can handle newsprint well, so maybe not. I think that they add a lot to the backstory - like your museum specimen tag.

I bought a pad of newsprint intended for sketching, cut it down to 8.5 x 11, and ran single sheets through my older desktop inkjet. It works OK most of the time.

Tell me more about Johansen's Dagbok – did you make that from the files on the CD or did you buy the whole Angell box?

Also, nice microscope. And lamp :)

Thanks! The Dagbok is from the HPLHS CoC props cd. The file has has about 25 pages of cursive text - Swedish (I guess - Johanssen's notes). I made a text block with a bunch of blank lined pages to give it some thickness, stitched and bound it. The cloth covering was actually an old greenish shirt. I printed the cover using a butcher paper stencil - should have just made an iron-on or something. I remember that part being a real pain. But it came out pretty good. The glue I used to bind the fabric to the cardboard covers bled through a bit which gave it a worn appearance, so not a bad thing. I had access to a big plotter at the time and made the big navigational chart, along with the LeGrasse file documents, I even found a forties vintage file box to put the "Cthulhu Cult" files in.

One of these days, I'll give the Wilcox bas relief a shot. The cd has everything but that. Pretty cool.
