Lost season 6 with spoilers beware

Yes . . . and by the same token, another character (such as Charlie) could have been pivotal since day one and we just didn't know it. :wacko

But it's what happened then and what we know now that matters. Now we know that Charlie isn't pivotal and that Jack isn't either - he's just one of many candidates.

How can you say Charlie isn't pivotal? He is responsible for one of the most pivotal events in the show - contact with the outside world.

Hmm, semantics here maybe.

He was pivotal to that one plot point, but not central to the entire series. Meaning, he was one character of a group, any of which could have taken his roll... as opposed to the two characters/forces who are controlling the island, and seem vastly more important than any of the single survivors.

I gotta feeling we're not going to know who's pivotal or not until the end of the last ep on Sunday, and even then I expect to be arguing with my friends about it for the next thirty years, like I do the end of THE PRISONER. :)

Although I understand your point, I think I disagree with it. It is no accident that the only musician ended up at a console with a musical unlock sequence. Send anyone else down there and...no boat. no Penny.

Just to add onto the 'Charlie is pivotal' pile, it is Charlie in Dimension X that awakens Desmond to the dual realities and enables Desmond to become some sort of key to the end. (Desmond and keys . . .)

With that definition of pivotal, every one of the Losties is pivotal.... but maybe that's the point of the series.

All I'm saying is that without Jacob and MIB the Losties don't get on the island and there is no show.

So much for the theory we wouldn't learn anything tonight, eh?

Awesome episode....12/10. Hopefully the finale' is that good.

GREAT episode tonight!!

I don't like it being Jack though...WTF....I wanted Hurley!!! My gf and I both think it will change....or at least hope

I do too, except that I don't think that it will be Hurley. As Jacob said, he choose people who's lives kinda sucked. Now, in this alternate world, everyone's lives were for the better, except Jin, Sun and Said, who are now all dead in the real timeline. And Kate. Her life still sucked from the get go, on the run and busted. At least the other three's lives weren't completely in the toilet at the start of the alternate timeline. I have a feeling that she could end up taking over.

I agree, GREAT episode. :) It seemed to go by too quickly.

Sawyer called MIB "Flocke", has anyone called him that on the show before? That was a great nod to the fans, if not.(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Since Jacob is learning from not-mom's mistakes and his own, and admitting it all to them, it seems to me that Jacob may not represent good in a perfect sense, but he certainly is good in a trying really hard to be way. :lol

I also loved how his explanation for why he chose them seemed to resonate with all of them. And I thought his reason for crossing off Kate's name was super sweet. :love "It's only a bit of chalk in a cave." That made it all seem so less 'mysterious' and more just like a guy trying to figure things out.

As for it being Jack - I still think his son in sideways world is going to come into play... that's a good point about Kate, btw. But she's still a mom in the real time line.

I'm a bit annoyed that it's starting at 7pm on Sunday, my kids don't go to bed until 9! Grrrr.... if it wasn't a school night, I'd send them to their grandparents.

She is still a mom, but isn't Claire still around? She could take Aaron, since that is why Kate came back in the first place.

And, FYI, I think 7 starts the recap, the actual episode starts at 8. Not that it helps that much...but maybe you can send the kids to bed an hour early ;)

Oh, and also, on Saturday night ABC is going to air the two hour pilot again.

Only 454 theaters in the U.S. are broadcasting the live broadcast of the chat session. Just tossing it out there if anyone is still interested. It's this Thursday. My computer is now being taken away from my so the gf can send in questions...:p

timestalks@nytimes.com is the place to send questions for consideration if anyone is interested

wow what a crazy and awesome episode!

Richard got pwned (dead?)
Ben got his revenge on Widmore finally
Ben and Rousseau are probably going to hook up
Locke is getting the surgery
Jack is the new protector
Desmond is "the failsafe"

It looks like everything is going to go down at the concert, where almost everyone is going to be.

Talking about Claire, wasn't she taggin' along with Locke when they left the dock? Where was she?

Man, I really wanted Hurley for the job :( I was expecting a turn of events before Jack drank the Latin infused water.

So, it seems Sayid, Sun and Jin really died. :(

A little off topic, but for those who like Dinner Impossible on the Food Network, there's a new episode airing tomorrow at 10:00 pm where chef Robert has to feed the Lost cast and crew in Hawaii!

Lead in is apparently 2 hours and the show starts at 8 central/mountain. The extra 30 minutes is pushing back the evening news, so the show itself starts at 9 Easter/Pacific.

Lot of great bits in tonight's episode - Ben and Danielle's evening together, Sawyer's comment about Jack's God complex, and my favorite was Desmond's escape plan, with Hurley addressing Anna Lucia by name... (I was wondering if she were going to show up, with so many scenes involving the LAPD.)
