LOST - Can they finish strong?

I love the show and I'll watch tonight, of course, becasue we haven't missed an episode in my house but honestly, there seems like there's no plot twist they could dream up that would amaze me any more. Everything's so out there that we expect the unexpected.

Last season with Locke dead/not dead/dead again just left me feeling like "yeah, what else ya got?". I'm hopeful that the Jacob story arc can bring back some of that mystery & wonder that riveted me to the show in season #1.

Here's to hoping that they can wrap up the series in an interesting & satisfying way.

The inevitable countdown to a BSG relaunch style horribly disappointing ending is upon us. NO seriously, I hope it isn't anywhere near as incompetently disastrous as the finale of Moore's BSG. Just that the ending of BSG jaded me towards expecting the absolute frakking worst.

i have to admit im a spoiler junkie for this show. im completely obsessed. a week ago i saw a lot of info on the two episodes that air tonight and im completely blown away. if the rest of the season keeps up with the pace for these then i have absolutely no doubt that it will finish hulk strong.

It has degraded into a campy soap opera, but I won't miss it. I have waited all this time, I am going to stick it out.

I hold onto the belief that the end will makes sense of it all. My friend tells me that I will be disappointed and nothing will be explained. I need to find out.

I too hope that the Jacob storyline will bring back some of the spark that was missing in the last series. Fingers crossed

If there's one thing I have faith in, it's that Lost will continue to amaze me until the very last second. I've loved every minute of it, even the episodes that weren't up to par. It constantly has me thinking, trying to figure out the intricate web of a plot, and so far everything, even the most crazy of things they've done, have shown incredible foresight. I have no doubt they know exactly what they're doing.

of course not. they never knew where they were going in the first place.

its been chinese water torture all the way with you getting drip fed bits and pieces. horrible show

Yeah, not to rain on anyones parade, as I know some folks love this show, but that's exactly how I felt. watching the early episodes, the narrative style really grossed me out.

For instance, they built you up with the monster in the jungle, then, finally, a character sees it, and guess what, it was then ignored, even though the audience is identifying with that character, suddenly you're cut out of the loop. It just seemed clumsy and cheap. Know the story you're going to tell, and tell it. Don't write a show like a game of consequences, it's insulting to the audience.

Maybe the show got better, I dunno.

Then again, is there any J.J. Abrams show that doesn't do that?

:lol

I missed last season, so I got some catching up to do. lets hope it ain't the X-Files. I'll break a tv if it ends up like that!

I stopped watching Lost two years ago because I was once again too Lost! I was sick and tired of having to recap, recap, recap, recap! If you have to recap the entire previous season or series you need to think about re-writing the episodes.

Fast Forward now is the place to be along with Fringe!!!!

Remember, 'Lost' was pitched to ABC as a complete story. Abrams has said that they always had the story completely written, beginning to end from the very start.
Alot of people think they're making it up as they go but that's not the case.
I'm hoping they don't chhese out with "it was all a dream" or some other such nonsense.
It's been a heck of a ride and I can't wait to see where they take us.

There's way too much built-in narrative symmetry to the seasons for them to have just "been making it up as they went along." Season One = crazy Island stuff. Season Two = a new group to contend with. Season Three = secrets revealed. Season Four = more secrets revealed. Season Five = a new group to contend with. Season Six = crazy Island stuff.

On the other hand, that's what storytellers do; make stuff up as they go along. It's not a documentary. :)

Who is left that we care about?

Juliet is dead, no happy James. Lock is Dead, Jacob is dead.

What will we get at the end of this? Ben lives and everyone else dies?

Huh, interesting - guess I was wrong about that. Seemed to me as a casual viewer as though they didn't know if they'd have one series or ten.

I missed most of 3rd season, I don't feel I missed much. 4th season seemed to really redeem itself. We'll see if it finishes well.
