Hello, folks.
Ever since I watched "Looper" in the theater I've wanted a Blunderbuss gun of my own. The "thrown together" aspect of it instantly grabbed my attention.
Over the last several years, I've slowly gathered info for a metal replica of the hero prop, but I'd love to get as precise a prop as possible so I'm turning to other fans. With the scanning technology available, a truly accurate replica is within reach.
Goals:
• To create the most accurate hero Blunderbuss replica possible.
• To end up with accurate and precise dimensions for the custom-fabricated parts that can then be handed off to a machinist.
• To identify the unique elements and the individual components of the construction.
Expectations/Desires:
This is a thread for all thoughts and theories about the hero Blunderbuss. No ideas will be dismissed as long as they are supported by evidence.
I don't want to abandon this project. To many half finished links are floating around out there, and it is super frustrating for someone who thinks they've hit the right trail, only to find a dead link, or abandoned post.
Timeline:
Ideally, this will be a Summer project, with all of the information finalized by Fall.
Known Parts:
The main body of the Blunderbuss is made of a Yankee Hill Machine rifle forearm, model number 5005.
The muzzle has a small swivel bipod attached to it. The bipod is another Yankee Hill Machine product, model number 262.
Photos:
Here, the break action in the prop can be seen.
There is also a large RPF gallery featuring a live-fire Blunderbuss and a stunt Blunderbuss. The photos were taken at a display at the San Diego Comicon.
