Looking for x-wing parts

Hey guys,

I recenlty picked up a maxi-brute x-wing kit, which I'd like to build into a studio scaled x-wing. I have a couple small detail parts that I bought online a few years ago (for a POTF conversion) which I might be able to use, but I will still need a bunch more parts. I think that I will be able to scratchbuild a couple details, and I might be able to use some parts off of a POTF2 x-wing, but I was wondering if anyone had some extra x-wing parts, which I could use for this project.

I apreciate any help that you guys can offer.

Thanks a bunch.

Dan, the toy X-Wing is notably smaller than the Maxi-Brute. In fact, the Maxi-Brute fuselage is the largest of all X-Wing fuselages I've seen, and I've seen them all except the originals, and the Salzo V3.

So the spare parts will likely be out of scale.

Also, the blown styrene hull will have to be cast in resin or significantly reinforced to support resin or acrylic wings and parts.

I'd LOVE to know how Bill George engineered his...

Thanks a lot for that pic. I remeber seeing a comparison, but forgot how out of scale they are. Oh well.

I plann on reinforcing the inside of the maxi-brute with resin of fiberglass before I scribe the lines and make modificiations to the fuselage.

Thanks

Dan

By the way, are the MBs still fetching a pretty penny?

To this day, I'd still ove to know more about the MB:
--Is its size accurate to the orginals?
--Are the porportions correct?
--How was it originally produced (taken off an original or not)?

I love mine, and am planning on using it for my "ultimate X-Wing" if I ever get around to it.

Rumor I heard...was that the Maxis were vac molded over a pryo.
Which would explain the pudgyness of it compared to a pyro casting.

The CC is too skinny and is an artist rendering not cast of anything.

BACK IN THE DAY..Maxis were all we had.
I even sold a PARTS kit that included engines and guns to facilitate folks who where scratch building.

I found a bag of those old parts recently....they looked OLD. And...degraded.

Everyone here..DOES realize..that your TWO part resin...eventually remembers it started off as a NON SOLID. And reverts back to its original form.

Makes sense. Certainly appears vac-molded, and what else would they have had.

Still...

Love to hear more about the basis of the rumor. Where and how did the rumor start. What exactly do we know?

Agreed completley. I felt this way long before any Salzo 3 with a beefier fuse came along...

I remember those days. Somewhat!

Scary thought. So all resins have a relatively limited life span...?

I still have Frank's old parts kit, turned a yellow-brown but otherwise not degraded. It could help trick out your Maxi quite nicely. LMK!
