I'm new so I hope I'm posting in the right forum but I'm looking for some of this stuff:
IMG_0079.jpg

Its a thin type of screen or vent. Its aluminium, and I have no idea but I know I have seen this somewhere before.
Suggestions or should I just try to cast some?
Thanks --

Yes but its very thin as if it was a type of screen.
Its killing me because I have seen it before but I just cant remember where.

It looks like the back of my air conditioner

Take the picture to Home Depot and ask someone there. Someone might be able to identify it for you.

The stuff does look very familiar though.

Oh, that's easy. The screwdriver is from Sears. They sell Craftsm
Oh, wait, I see you want to know about the screen...

Hmmm. Sure looks like something I've seen, but I can't place it.

Maybe from the side of a computer for the cooling fan exhaust?
:confused

John is right...looks like the screen, that you usually find on the back of an air conditioner

How about the vents from underneath the edges of the roof. I don't really pay attention to those so I'm just guessing here.

Does it cover ventilation holes on caravans? I'm pretty sure I've seen it in a mobile home.

Cheers,

They used to replace window screens with that stuff. Havn't seen any in 35yrs or more though. It came in a bronze or silver color, my neighbor used to sell it back then. It was a solar screen for house windows.

That's what I was thinking. Now to find this stuff over 35 years old.
I might find something close by taking it around so some of the suggested sources, Hardware stores, RV supply stores etc. Its just been driving me crazy.

if you are looking for small round(1"-4.5", then go here. If looking for sheets, their sales dept. may be a good place to start. We use these all the time to dress stuff up larger props and sometime vents on masks..

Thanks I sent them an Email.
That stuff looks really close.
I hope they reply.

That screen is called cool shade. It was used for the "solar panels" on the Tie fighters. Very expensive stuff. It is still available but main used for comercial apps.

I found it. Its actually called Kaiser shadescreen or Phifer Shadescreen. Has not been manufactured for almost 10 years but I found a source who still had some and they were kind enopugh to fill my needs.

Re: Looking for this stuff,,, any ideas?

If you purchased kaiser shadescreen you did not get the original material. The original material is kool shade and I have material available. The material is a woven flat louver with a slant and held together on 1/2" centers with wires. It is very fine and is not stamped which is what the kaiser material is.
