Looking for IONCANNON worried about scam

I am looking for Dan Dristiliaris AKA ioncannon here at the RPF.

I had originaly found a thread here by him for false upper teeth custom made. We started a conversation and business transaction via the RPF and after sending him a total of $120 (broken into 2 payments last of wich was made Jul. 26, 2008) and although he had kept in close contact all along, he totaly disappeared after my last payment was made.

I have tried to email him multiple times, and have tried to contact him here...

Each time I try to contact IONCANNON here I get this message:

ioncanon has exceeded their stored personal messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space.

I want to be the reasonable person here and hope maybe he is just busy or unfourtunatly ill. Has anyone heard from him, know him, or have any info that may suggest that I was scammed? I hope not because I was trying to be nice by not following through with a paypal dispute. It is too late now and I would have to move to internet fraud suits instead.

:confused:unsure:angry:cry

Wow nothing yet huh? I know he had been pretty busy with work a month or two ago. Could he be ill or missing? :confused

Well, if anyone hears from him or someone he is close with please let me know.

Also if anyone has advice on how or where to file an internet fraud case drop me a line here or at my email freemind1013 (at) gmail.com

His PM box is probably full because of the HIC side panel fiasco. :unsure
IIRC he is WAY behind on orders.
Lack of communication is sooooo unprofessional.
I feel for ya bud.

You see, that's funny to me, because he sold a HIC side panel mold in the Junkyard last year. I PMed him, and he replied that I was too late and that someone had just bought it. "Crap!", I thought. He then mentioned that though the mold was sold, he still had the first cast to come out of the mold (the "master" cast), and mentioned that he would sell me that AND the "rights" to reproduce the master cast as I saw fit. I bought it for a stupid price, but I was desperate at the time and it was my best option. :unsure

It took awhile to get the cast in the mail (which turned out to be a slush cast), but once receiving it, I cleaned it up, built a box for the new mold, made a mold, jumped onto the Junkyard, and...

find that he's doing a new run of HIC panels. :angry This is after him "getting out of the HIC panel business", selling his mold(s), and his master cast. :thumbsdown

I wish you better luck than I have had. I didn't even get a comlimentary jar of Vaseline before getting screwed. :unsure

Fetthunter, that sux!
Just as an observer, (he doesn't owe me) I think this ioncannon has been given too much slack.
Why oh why do vendors keep selling vaporware on this board?
I'll tell ya why. Members keep turning a blind eye to the bs.
How long did it take to get rid of members like EDC, Dangeruss66, spanky, UA, droiddude, Durasteel, Exedge,.........
We need to nip these scammers in their buds.

The lure of swag makes people a bit blind...

Ioncannon had been running a few "update" threads in the main Prop section as he was barred from the JY and that was his only way to update those with outstanding transactions. From what I've seen those updates were quite sparse.

I am also seeking answers. For a while he was in touch with me and now hasn't said a peep. There was a thread just put up lately regarding this on the HIC panels. I am on that list of people who is supposed to be receiving a set and unfortunately I can't file a complaint through Paypal because of how much time has passed.

I want my money back more now than I want those panels anymore. I'm VERY upset with his customer service and lack of answers. He did write me once expressing his illness, but beyond that haven't a clue what's going on.

I am one of the folks he owes and I was in no way rushing him, kept telling him no hurry, take his time, etc, etc. He stopped all communication with me over a month ago. Now i still need my HIC panels, and a book from a previous sales thread he did in the JY.
Starting to look like a thief, but I hope he proves me wrong.:unsure

I too hope he proves us wrong. Many of us have run behind and/or had personal issues. My problem is not only NOT getting my product and the TOTAL lack of communication, but how he kept in constant contact with me until I made my last payment. THEN fell off the face of the earth. for $120!?!?!?!?! If he is a theif, he's appearing to be a petty one at that.

I agree, we should nip these types and do away with them. FOREVER!

I am working on filing an internet fraud case against him if anyone wants in. I have been reading the FBI's Internet Fraud site and think I (we) may have a case.

add me to the list, too

Waiting for answers, unfulfilled promises, 1000 lies from him and the lost of $125 makes me really angry...

ioncannon
, where are you ?

Sign me up. He owes me something other than panels. I have been very patient because I thought he was one of the good guys.

He was a mod at another forum but was recently stripped of his mod status. He's also been banned from The Dented Helmet. Last I seen on the forum, his Paypal account was empty so I don't think filing a claim will do any good. Good luck you guys on getting your stuff.

I can't believe I've just now found this thread.

I was the one he sold the mold and "rights" to.

I received the molds last year, about a week or so before we moved into a new home. I never opened the box.

I did finally crack it open a few months later, after I finished my workshop and found the mold was complete crap. The 2 castings he sent me as "masters" were also in sad shape. They would require a lot of clean up before I could pull a new mold.

Then I see his "for sale" thread in the Junkyard.

I cried foul and ioncanon said he would ship me a new set of side panels at no charge so I could pull a new mold for myself (since I wasn't satisfied with the quality so far) but I doubt I'll ever see those castings.

I don't remember what he was charging for those panels but I'm out $350 for a craptacular mold and 2 craptacular castings that will require significant clean up before molding.

:confused

...I was trying to be nice by not following through with a paypal dispute.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS file a paypal dispute within the timeframe given. It doesn't matter if the person is in communication, has delays, promises he'll ship "soon, I promise," or "I already shipped" but has no evidence, etc. It should not take someone 30-45 days from payment to getting the item in your hand. If it gets close to the date, notify the seller you're filing a dispute--it's not personal, you're just covering your butt. Once the date hits, (ALWAYS!!!!) file the dispute and let the person know. Let him know once you get the item in hand, you'll cancel the dispute or refund/pay the person.

Regardless of how good of a member a person seems, everyone has the potential of falling in a pit they can't get out of, scammers aside.

I was the one he sold the mold and "rights" to.

So you have the mold and the "rights" to make casts using it, and he sold me the master cast and the rights to make a mold of it and sell casts from IT. And then he goes and starts selling panels using another unknown mold (possibly pulled from another cast that he didn't sell).

EXCELLENT! :lol

If it matters, I didn't pay $300 for my 1 cast and the "rights", but it was pretty darn close. The cast was craptacular when I received it (seems to be a trend?), and I spent a few hours each night for about a month cleaning it up (spot putty, sand, Bondo, sand, repeat). I also added and removed some details to mine to make it more accurate (IMO). It doesn't event resemble the one I received, now. In the end, it would've been easier to sculpt the damn thing myself. :unsure

I currently have no plans to do a run of these. Maybe a long way down the road in the future. I wish you guys luck!

I was quite bummed when Ioncanon offered his panels for less then half of what I paid for mine, but now after reading all this, and having followed the whole melt down over at the HIC Builder's club Yahoo Group, I'm counting my blessings...

Before the whole side panel fiasco happened I bought a genuine 3-cell Graflex from Ioncanon and he never shipped for weeks after giving all sorts of excuses. I filed a paypal claim and he eventually gave me a refund.

I guess I was lucky twice...

I'm truly sorry for those who lost money on Ioncanon's side panel deal; but the silver lining is, he offered them for a relatively cheap price, and not for the usual $400 to $500 range a good set of these things usually go for.

When something sounds too good to be true, they most often are.
