Looking for a drying transparent recipe for blood

Working on a gnarly bloody Jason Voorhees machete prop, and I want to create a blood that will both dry untacky but also will remain wet looking and transparent. I was thinking silicone or urethane, water clear, with various shades of red/blue/brown tint mixed in. I just don't want it to get murky or opaque.

Any ideas or product recommendations? Thanks!

What he said, nail polish will work wonders when thinned. It will also allow you to add misc bit of skin/meat to the blade while sealing it in place. Use some silicone or even sponge bits for that goop.
