First of all, this build is already fantastic. I'm keeping my eye on it for ideas on how to do my long fall boots.

Second of all, while searching for springs for my project, I found a hanging flower pot hanger that worked really well. They're steel, so they should be able to support my 135lb figure. Your 115lbs should be no problem.

Search places like Lowe's, Menard's, Home Depot, etc for things like that. I'd post pictures of what I have, if I could find them in the garage. XD

I'll be watching what you do closely! I am also in the process of building a pair of long fall boots, though I'm starting from scratch rather than using a boot (my way is probably the dumb way, but we'll see). I'm using a piece of steel bent to shape for the springs, though a carbon fiber spring would really be ideal, just more expensive and beyond my abilities right now. I tested aluminum too but the bar stock I found was not nearly strong enough to work in scale.

How are you planning to get into/out of the boot once it's tight to your leg? Zipper? Or...? That's been a very tricky part for me, as the boot needs to be fairly substantial/not stretchy for the heel spring to offer support, yet there's no way to open it up to get in and out.

Can't wait to your approach on these funky boots.

I've seen them done in foam before but I don't think I e super accurate hard shell versions before.

In case you haven't thought of it, I hope you're planning to solidly rig the spring bar to your leg somehow - i.e. run it into its attachment point on the boot and then through, perhaps bend it downward and continue it all the way down the back of your calf, strapped on or some such. The reason I say that is, as you step down/forward, your momentum of a bit more than your meager 115 lbs will push the bar upward with all the force concentrated on where it's attached to the shell.

Basically, engineer the spring bar to work with your leg alone, then develop a way for the boot to go on over/around it, for safety's sake.

It looks like there's a plate with bolts in the game model - I just don't know how strong that method of attachment will be in real life.

I never would have thought to go about it that way. Way cool.

Perhaps going that route was a bad idea...

Peeled it all off, trying another way.

Will update on how it goes.

We tried a new mix, new method, and it worked way better, luckily. Flexible, yet hard~

Is it just me, or does he look just like the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant)?

    Anyway, this is looking sweet!

Oh, man, that gives me an idea for a new title that bossman will hate me for.

    He probably won't notice, anyways.
Iiiii'll just change it for a bittle bit. *u*

    Gonna have to put a stopper on the progress for just a few weeks. ;u;

We're gonna make N7 armor - a female set and male set - since I need it for a final at school pffft.

We're gonna be getting back to this pretty soon, but bossman claims he's been working on them every now and then. Do I believe him?..... ehh... Oh well.

I'm planning on (eventually) making a pair of Long Fall Boots myself. I'm glad I found this thread because it's given me a lot of ideas on how to go about making them! I'm excited to see some more progress!

I WOKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND REALIZED WE HAVE BEEN GOING ABOUT THESE ALL WRONG AHHHHH.

PROGRESS, THOUGH IT HAS BEEN A YEAR, IS ABOUT TO RETURN.

Sadly my boots and everything are in the Tri cities and I personally have moved to Seattle for college.
So looks like I will be solo on this! No longer just the helper :O
