Loki Masks

Yeah its missing the 'L' symbol :( my previous Masks had it though.

The original replications had it missing and if you check the ICONS Mask it is also missing, shame.

Thanks for the tips im sure i will get the hang of it sooner or later, just got to stick at it.
I will keep you updated!

Oh by the way, Howlrunner, do you have any pictures of the 'Profiles in History' Mask? I cant seem to find one on the site. Thanks!

Hey... do you only have access to the oil based Humbrol or perhaps also the water based kind? For anything I would recommend getting the waterbased stuff - easier to clean and you don't have to deal with thinners and too much toxic stuff... and you can clean the brushes as well as thin the paints with water.

I was looking into getting some Humbrol ENAMEL paints. These are water based right?

These are the best to use for the Mask?

The Humbrol Enamel paints are not water based.

Yes, you can use white spirit as a paint thinner. I've used it as a thinner with Humbrol enamel paints with all of my paintups.

I actually have some acrylic paints (i used them to paint my Mask like the image i posted). But i want to get more pale colours like what Howlrunner has on his Mask.

Howlrunner, thats good to know then, i'll keep that in mind.

Apply a wash of dark brown thinned with white spirits over what you have already done. You should find that it mutes the colours and ties them together more. :thumbsup

The brand of paint has nothing to do with the shine or vibrancy of the colors. There are matt, semigloss and gloss... you gotta pick the right ones for the job. And with something like this that should end up looking like old wood, you need to go with matt colors.

If things still end up with that slight shine to it, you can always hit it with a coat of matt clear coat. Not only will that seal the paint work, it will also dull the shine. But again... stay within the same brand of paint... and the same type. You do not want to mix things.

So , I see alot of these mask floating around on Ebay and what not, in your guys opinion what is the best available out there ?

( painting aside of course )

The ones on eBay at the minute are actually all the same (apart from the Haunted Studios and goldenarmour ones) and they are not from the original cast. They are newer replicas with different wood grain.

So right now, there arnt any original designs on there but keep checking back, they usually pop up now and then!
