Logo removal from spandex/lycra?

Hey folks,

Did some searching but I couldn't find my answer, so here I am. I've got some under armour stuff that needs to have the logo removed, but I'm having some difficulty. On the heat gear hood that I have, I've tried peeling it off but it's stuck on really well.

Just wondering if anyone else here has had success removing these things?

Try using Goo Gone or Oops! remover and test it on a portion of the material. Those are the products some of the guys use to remove the logo from compression gear, and you can find them at the hardware store.

I've had issues with GooGone before. It did remove the logo, but it left a dark residue in it's place.

Goo-gone will "burn" that neoprene. Just buy your compression stuff from Eastbay.com or call this company wsisports.com to request some compression gear without any visible logos.

I've used lacquer thinner for that job plenty of times. Place a thick rag-pad under the cloth area with the logo to blot up the excess thinner, then dab at the ink on the top of the cloth with another rag dampened with lacquer thinner. or hold it on the ink until the ink wrinkles & loosens - might take a few minutes..stretching the logo area a bit sometimes helps with the loosening. Gently wipe at the ink until it lifts. sometimes you can get it to lift in large sections. Try not to rub the softened ink back into the fiber, but gently lift or scrape it off. ( same as taking paint off with stripper)
I've done underarmor, morphsuits, shoe logos & other inks this way.
Oh- and make sure you do this in an area with plenty of ventilation - and wash the garment thoroughly afterwards.

I'll take your word for it on the Goo Gone as I have not tried it. But, that being said, quite a few guys on the Brotherhood of the Bat have allegedly used it successfully to remove logos from compression gear. Again, I have not, but just passing it along, and believe me when I say we go through a lot of compression gear making Bat suits. That being said, I highly recommend the Eastbay stuff as it holds up well and the logos are small and easy to cover.

I actually was assuming that it's made from neoprene 'cause it's a hood, and hoods are actually sold for winter use. Goo Gone may not affect lycra, but will definitely affect the rubber in spandex. One of you guys should experiment with steam to get those logo off.

I just never had this problem before 'cause I either get my compression stuff from either eastbay or WSI.

Thanks for all the info, everyone! I've got some goo gone so I'll try that out. The material is just a lycra/spandex - no neoprene at all. I'm also gonna check out those links.
