LOGAN'S RUN Sandman Gun Reference Photos - Original

Here are some photos of an original Logan's Run Sandman gun and follower I'm currently handling for a client. I figured these would be nice for people to add to their archives.

I believe only 4 hero guns are known to exist, and they're all in private collections:

I know the fin under the barrel was angled on the movie gun and straight with rounded bottom on the TV show

the changes were
A. The glow plug switch was moved from the front of the trigger to the grip
B. The trigger shape was altered
C. I believe those colored 'dots' in the pics were added for the TV show to indicate 'settings' which the movie version didn't have

16 were originally made for the movie, and 6 of those were brought over to the TV show. This unit is one of the crossover guns.

Several changes were made for safety's sake. Here they are:

1. Toggle switch was repositioned
2. Fin was altered
3. Metal grips were added (to replace the Bondo ones)

And for those who haven't already guessed, this is a firing hero.

Philippes, thank you for taking the time to post this important reference, very cool of you!

Boy that follower brings back memories--I used to hang around Bill Blake at conventions when I was a kid, did the Sandman costume for a few years with a gun I'd scratch-built from plexiglass. Bill, and Faye Metz, the president of the Logan's Run Organization of Fans, were amazingly kind to me when I was a 16 year old fan.

It's more like a belt clip than a holster. I made one out of plexiglass long ago, not terribly secure.

It’s basically a ‘V’ shape with the sides bent double to create a channel which allows the projection on the gun to slide into place. I believe the originals were metal. There are some pretty good pictures floating around.

Aaah! Thank you Phil! That brought back fond memories. Definately my favorite Prop weapon.

Maybe this will give me the ambition to buy some flash wadding and finish up the functional aspect of my JB aluminum flamegun.

Not as cool as Cal-Carb, but easier on the wallet.

Hey, I ordered a TRACKER from Bill Blake a million years ago and NEVER got it. I always thought that was a cool prop. Of course, the flame gun was the coolest -- probably a favorite of mine next to TOS phaser as well.

The tracker is a static stunt piece--no electronics.

The width of the follower is 2.78".
