Little Galactica

Hey guys. I am new to posting here. I have been lurking for the better part of a year now.

Here is a little project I have been working on in some form for almost two years now. A model of the New Galactica.

First some drawings.

This PDF if 4MB so you are fairly warned;

And here is a page with some CG studies I did to get my forms right;

This is a big picture. If your screen is black scroll down and to the side;

And here are a couple of shots of my first parts test;

The first set of parts were adding up to be too thick. So I remade the laser cut parts bigger to fit proportionally. This Galactica is about the same scale as that little Basestar resin kit that Federation Models sells.

Coby can we slam on your for not sharing your blue prints :lol

I am just kidding my man, this is excellent work.

The first thing I wanted to do was test out the shapes in a smaller scale. Then I would exploit that work and make copies. I have some interest from a former Zoic employee who wants to get some for gifts. This smaller version won't need the same amount of detail that a 22" one will. It's a nice way to scratch that Galactica itch. And work out any problems.

All kidding asside Coby this is phenomenal work so far. I am glad you made it to the RPF.

Hmm, I never thought of the whole
" gift " idea... :thumbsup

That would acutally be pretty cool, as you
KNOW those lil' suckers would go like
HOTCAKES...

Kinda' a sweet treat BEFORE the nice
BIG MAIN COURSE..... :lol

I look at those pictures and think that you're doing a great job. Then, I see the shot showing you holding it in the palm of your hand and get a sense of the scale that you're working in, and I'm absolutely blown away. Simply amazing.

Wow. I too was amazed when it was shown in your hand. I thought it was larger than that with all the tiny raised lines in it. Great job. I can't wait to see it finished. :thumbsup

It's amazing. I see shots of this and I'm blown away by the detail you've managed to put into it. Then, I see a shot where your finger is shown and I can't believe that you're doing all this on such a small scale. Friggin' astounding.
