Lightsabers on metal belt hooks squeaking?

So I have modified an old belt with a lightsaber hook as a prototype for making a costume, and while I am satisfied with how it looks and performs, after a little bit of time wearing my lightsaber, it starts squeaking as it swings on my hip. I don't really know what's causing it, and I wondered if anyone else has had this problem?

Happens all the time. Metal on metal. I’ve seen guy rub a little WD40 on the hook right in the spot.

You can also use felt with adhesive on one side, and cut a small piece to go on the hook. That will definitely mitigate any sounds the metals are making from friction. You can get that stuff in sheets from Michaels

The first time I wore a lightsaber on a belt hook was SWCC in 2019. I was wearing my Skywalker Bespin fatigues, which I had never worn to a con before.

ALL. DAY. LONG. *squeak* *squeak* *squeak* It got on my nerves to the point I started carrying the lightsaber around.

Made me wonder what life was like for Hamill...

So yeah. Totally normal.:)
