Tommin. I don't know who you are or anything about you other than whatever you have on your site. So please don't take anything I say personal or as an attack against you. By the way I've been a fan of your site for years.
No worries, bud.
With that being said I strongly feel your response to Vader's Right Hand is way out of line. The guy is saying what most of us feel. We bought a product (a very expensive product) they promised to be the best and are delivering something else. That would upset anybody....even you I suppose.
Sorry for the confusion. The comment directed toward Cpl Potter was totally in jest. We've been participants in much more heated debates than this and at the time, my sick humor got the better of me. We have clarified via email and there is not any bad blood between the two of us.
Which brings me to something else. Again I've been following this thread and especially the other one you started when you recieved the one of the first PR's to hit US soil. I understand you are a builder, modeler, collector etc. and your 5 star review of the PR was very indepth. Everyone seemed to fully respect you and the review because of who you are. But I noticed something odd.
Not sure about the five star review. I would give a five star review to an original Bapty gun that had over and under firing capability. But then again, that would not be an idealized prop and in it's screen accurate condition, would turn away a lot of collectors as a replica. I merely mentioned: "Given the very nature and complexity of a prop such as this, there is no way to win all the hearts and minds of the avid fans of an old film called ALIENS. But I would argue now, more than ever, the people of HCG have managed to do the impossible. The attention to detail, accuracy, features, customer service, and packaging far exceeds the price point that they managed to offer these units." <==== (and I still stand by this.)
The pictures you posted of it clearly showed the droopage problem. Once somebody pointed it out the lens distortion debate started. People asked you if the PR you had was drooping....I noticed you never truly answered the question. The last I read was you said something about your camera and also said you were gonna pull the beast back out to examine it. Nothing was said after that so the topic faded. So please answer the question: Does the PR you were given by HCG droop like most of the rest so far? I have some theories as to why you never answered the question.
Mine is an un-numbered gun. You can't judge the piece on photographs alone and in first person, you will find that there are lines going in so many directions, it's visually disorienting. But, yes. You are correct. Little was mentioned after that request neither mine for someone to address a pic that examined the lines of an original Bapty pusley. Why the silence? I have a few theories of my own but, they are complete immaterial for the purpose of this thread.
1. You never noticed it and when somebody pointed it out you realized it and felt rediculous for giving a 5 star review. For saying how thoroughly you examined it and being who you are missing something like that ruins some of your credibility. Seriously if thats true how the hell would you miss that?
It was an un-numbered gun; a preview reporting an item shipping. Conversations that I have are not always reflected on message boards. Keep that in mind and also the number of quotations that have popped up within this thread that are un-verifiable to their source. That said, at least one additional thread popped up from it, and a participant has since been banned from this forum. As always, just stating facts.
2. You did notice it but played "dumb" cause after waiting forever and getting the hook up from HCG you didn't want to man up, be honest and say its defective. If thats true I cant blame you cause being in your position to be the first reviewer, especially with lots of us holding our breath, it would be really hard to say it. I mean some purchased it based on your stellar review.
Please refer back to what I would type of pulsey that I would render the 'five star review'. You might not understand the greater picture and my position on replicas but, that is perfectly fine. Others do.
Thats pretty much it. I noticed you were gone for awhile and upon returning seeing whats going on surprising (or not). You did say you didn't want to say anything until a official chimes in and I can understand that. That does however support theory #2. Whatever I swear I have no bad blood against you. I just noticed some things I feel needed to be addressed. Like I said I've been a fan of your site for a long time. I went nuts when you gave it such a high review. So please stop being shady and answer the question with picture evidence. If your PR is perfect then disregard anything I've said and I will put my foot in my mouth.
RH
You are correct. I did want an official to chime in. I've been involved with the replica boards long enough to see quotes thrown around with the intent to stir up political factions. Why this happens is completely beyond me. But it does. So I try to remain quiet unless it is to provide fact or humor. ...and again, if we want to talk fact about my own HCG pulsey, don't forget, it is/was only a preview. Whatever my credentials, it is not my place to act as QC nor be the sole advisor to a company with an original Bapty PR in hand. I took photos. May get inspired to take more. Over the last few days have had many thoughts of gutting this thing and starting 'new' with it. But, then again, once the dust settles from all the debate, I won't want to regret destroying such an iconic piece.
Hope this helps. RustedHero, you did ask some good questions. Glad to have peeps like yourself to be part of the RPF.
