Is this old news?

In 1979, Swiss surrealist H. R. Giger created what is considered one of the most frightening monsters of all time, for Ridley Scott’s masterpiece ALIEN. Since then, the ALIEN Xenomorph has become one of the most popular and Iconic creatures to ever appear on the silver screen. The movie was destined to become one of the most influential science-fiction films of all time, and earned Giger an Oscar for his vision.

We are extremely proud to announce our officially licensed 1:1 Lifesize Alien statue, derived from the original molds used to create the original Alien costume.

Standing fully 7 feet 8 inches tall on its display stand, this imposing piece is constructed primarily of durable fiberglass and hand painted to the finest detail.

Presented in the classic Giger Alien Pose, the arms are also poseable and can be positioned down by the creature's sides or reaching out to grab its next victim! The head features the fatal inner “tongue”, as well as the translucent dome covering the eye-less skull underneath.

This impressive display is completed with a themed “floor grid” display stand, with concealed lighting which allows the Alien to be illuminated from beneath for added dramatic effect!

The ultimate Alien collectible and the centerpiece for anyone’s Alien collection.

Estimated to ship 2nd quarter 2009

Just got the email through from HCG!! Its.......ok looking I suppose!!
Is there suppose to be a picture of it on the web site or was it just in the email? I looked at their web site and couldn't find a picture.

The down angle photo they give you is not particularly flattering... I'd like to see an UP angle, since this guy is nearly 8 feet tall. :lol

I agree the Classic "costume leaning against a wall" pose sucks.:thumbsdown
For that price they need to spice it up a bit. :confused

I bought one from prop store - im almost certain its by the same builder - the HCG pics ive seen look too close

Its almost the best piece in my collection - I really like it - the pose isnt for everyone but the diehard giger fans like it cause the museum piece is presented in the same way.

I was going to ask the builder to modify another into the crouching pose. I`d leave the less famous crab pose for someone more adventurous though:lol

This price is also a bargain :cry (y)cool

Looks pretty good, but over my pricerange.

I'd settle for a nice head, or even just a tongue!

Hmm
Boy Id like a raw casting set to do the finishing on myself.
Its a good price for something that sourced, but the mouth is not really right and the primered black look makes it look cheaper than it should.
The teeth are placed higher up towards the dome ....

Send me a set !!!

Id hate to see this distributed like this, when with some simple tweaking, it could be great !!!

Um... not that I can afford one.... till Ive worked on the Hobbit Movies anyway....lol

I agree, bad pose, poor attention to detail in the mouth area. Everyone has missed getting the teeth right on this creature. Giger released his own 1/2 or 1/4 scale head thru Sideshow and it had the teeth the way they were seen on film. Unfortunately it wasn't 1:1 or I'd have bought it.

WHY does everyone have to airbrush that black around the base of the dome!!!!?????

If someone did a decent squatting pose like the one above, I'd be signing up.

Even if the legs were slightly spread apart and bent at the knees, the pose would be 1000% better.

This looks like the "man, I gotta poop, but if I walk, I'm going to crap my underpants" pose.

Reference is available to do this up incredibly, I think the right obsessive person needs to do the build and production example on it . Sadly Ive wanted to do this for years but the cost in sculpting and molding something this big has kept me from it. Pat did his display sculpt, and now castings from Giger's mold are available to some to work with and it still doesn't quite feel like THE TRUE " Alien " . Wish I knew the people involved w this , I would have loved to help out. I did do a pt 1 chestburster about 15 yrs ago, wonder if I still have picts somewhere, maybe I could tackle redoing that :/ Russ

I have to agree with everyone about the pose, just a little change in pose would make such a difference.

Another little thing that gets me is for 4000 the paint job especially around the head could have been alot better. It just looks like molded pieces of plastic as opposed to the 'alien'. A little bit more depth in the colour, a bit of gloss coat to give a 'wet' apperance. A good piece, but could have been better
