Question License/Rights/Legal question (answered)

I've got my hand in a few prop replica projects and thought some time I might try sell some. So if I make a replica of a key film prop, will I need to get permission to sell it? (Seems likely.) And if so, who should I contact for permission to do so?

I tried to search the forum but maybe my forum search skills may need refined--for I haven't found much of use yet. So why not just ask, right? :)

If you want to be a licensee you have to contact the copyright holder and pay them a butt load of money. That is the only legal way to reproduce a prop for sale. So far as anything else goes you always run the risk of getting a C&D. If you want to make a run of something and you keep it small enough you should be alright.

HOWEVER: Do not recast another member's work (Or any work for that matter, there's grey area there but it's a safe bet that you shouldn't just pour silicone on something and make casts).

Wrong ... & right :lol

You're just looking in the wrong place.

Search for ' recasting / recast ' etc

Don't post in any of the threads, just read them :lol

Trust me, all your answers are in the threads you will find :lol
