Leno

Lenos show seemed to be half Tonight and half sonny and cher or some other old variety show.

But, I didn't watch it much before and won't now, no matter what happens. It's funny that late night TV hosts gets such huge paychecks.

What's the prez make again?

The show runs new episodes like 220 days a year. An hour long show gives it about 16 minutes of commercials. I don't know what they charge, but even at 100k for 30 seconds, that's 3.2M of ad money per night, multiply it out over 220 nights...700+M a year. If *I* bring in 700M a year to my company, they better be paying me a freaking fortune.....

Deal reached.

Conan gets $45 mil and the noncompete runs until September (if we read between the lines of the news story). He's keeping $33 mil for himself, and giving the rest to his staff. Stand-up guy (no pun intended).

We'll see where he lands.

I have to say, in this story, I've been really impressed with how Conan conducted himself. Like I said, he seems like a really decent guy.

That's the business of it. They gambled with Leno at 10 and it failed. Buying out Leno would have cost more than buying out Conan, so they bought out Conan when they couldn't agree on the bump in timeslot.

I read in a recent interview with him that he was wanting out of his contract so he could go elsewhere and do other things, but they wouldn't let him and had him do his show before the news. Then when that failed, they wanted him to go on right before Conan, which he was OK with as long as Conan was OK with it, and that's when it all blew up.

They printed one of Conans jokes in the paper;

"Hosting the tonight show was a life long dreams of mine, and it shows that dreams can come true. Unless Jay Leno wants to do it too."

Oh well, He came out all right. I'd like to be on his staff a few months to share the mega-booty.

Well wherever Conan goes I'll be watching that. I hope Leno's viewership continues to plummet. I used to like Leno okay, but I think this whole thing is really sour.

My question no one seems to address online is... Why is Fallon still on the air?!

Oh God! I tried to watch his show once. It was S-O B-A-D, I almost didn't believe it was real.

Fallon is one of the few people who I just have this urge to punch in the face for no reason.

The only skit I liked of Fallon's was the Saved by the Bell with Mark Paul Gosselar.

My wife and I just started watching Conan mid-December, we were pretty bummed when all this started going down.

Last night on the show Conan said that the ratings have gone up 50% in the last week.

He also said that NBC has to continue paying for whatever they want to do on the show, so in these last few days of the show they will be "introducing new comedy bits that aren't so much funny as they are crazy expensive."

Last night he debuted the Bugatti Veyron Mouse, a Bugatti they bought to dress as a mouse while playing the master recording to The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction. He said the price tag on the bit was $1.5 million.

I was so psyched to see a Veyron on American television. :lol

Update:
http://jalopnik.com/5453722/where-did-conan-get-that-bugatti-veyron

Turns out the Veyron was actually a loaner from the Petersen Museum, the song on the other hand has caused NBC to pull the segment from NBC.com & HULU, because of the expenses. :lol
Later on Adam Sandler came on and revealed that him and Chris Farley were actually fired from NBC back in the 90's and didn't actually leave as had been assumed for years. Sandler went on to give us a gem that his manager came up with, "NBC: Nothing but c***s."

I'm going to miss this guy.

I foresee Fallon somehow getting screwed when Jay Leno retires for real.

Twice now in handing over the reigns of the Tonight Show NBC has screwed the guy who was the host of Late Night in favor of Jay Leno. I don't think they'll have a smooth hand-off until Jay is dead.

The Bugatti Veyron Mouse is going down as one of the best things I've ever seen on television. :lol:thumbsup Awesome.

Leno can choke on feces...I hope few support the conniving a-hole and refuse his show. :devil <--Leno.

It sucks for Conan's crew, moving your family from NY to LA just for this. :confused This whole thing stinks.

...at least we got the Bugatti Veyron Mouse "skit" out of it though. Satisfaction indeed. :D
